We keep talking about Ohgren, but what about Khusnutdinov? I don't see a huge upside with him like Ohgren. Like Khus + Lambos + 2nd or something

Well Columbus has to want to accept the offer

The only other name that interests me is Marchenko. We would have to expand from our side though.

I like Chinakhov and Voronkov too to varying degrees.

But still, the idea of moving Rossi for Jiricek, even with one of those as a +, is kinda gross. We absolutely need a contingency at center if we trade Rossi, and it can't be putting our hopes and dreams on Yurov.

So help me, if Guerin does a Mittelstadt for Byram trade...

Where do you put Zucc & Mojo? I’m all for diminishing their respective roles (for Zucc, it’s just 5v5, he’s still awesome on the PP) but they aren’t guys you hide in the bottom 6
Ideally, Johansson would go in a trade or stashed on the 4th line. I’ll use Boeser as a placeholder for a wing acquisition:

Kaprizov-Rossi-Zuccarello
Boldy-Eriksson Ek-Boeser
Foligno-Gaudreau-Hartman
Lauko-Khusnutdinov-Johansson
Trenin

Pretty much has to be Ohgren from the Wild in my eyes.
Ohgren or Marat, I'm thinking, with maybe another prospect/pick - not a first. I wonder if they'd be interested in Hunt? Ohgren + Hunt would be a pretty rich pkg, I'm thinking. Dean would have a lot of insight into our prospect pool, for sure.

They are also not throwing in a Chinakov or Voronkov if we send them Rossi. Chinakov has looked vg, and Voronkov, too, though he's had to get over an oowie. Marchenko is a dream, also.

The best value for CBJ would probably be prospect for prospect, but if they can get a middle six NHL starter for a disappointing RHD propsect then they should be thrilled.

The idea of what Jiricek would present is definitely appealing. Can’t say that I’ve seen enough to what he currently is but I’d be a little concerned about his skating for a team that is at their best when getting up and down.

I like Ohgren but in theory things start to get a little tight on where he fits upcoming assuming Yurov is somewhere near what they think and they add a solid top 6 option in free agency next year. Ohgren is going to be a big body, two way forward that is going to score 20/25yr IMO. That’s not nothing he just needs time to get there. I wouldn’t be interested adding much in the way of value to him outside of maybe giving Hunt and opportunity to go and play with him in a hypothetical trade.

I don’t think you can do Rossi at all with where this team is at without a massive add planned down the middle relatively soon after such a trade. Don’t see that as realistic if the goal is to be left standing with Jiricek which isn’t going to have an impact on this season. Been wrong before with Guerin though.

Double post but to me the question boils down to this.

The Wild have started to build up their organization after it being dismantled by two expansion drafts and some poor personnel decisions. They have the pieces to really acquire most any player that were to come available if they choose to make certain ones available. Is Jiricek the guy to starting allocating some of that capital for?

That much I am not sure about. I think they still need the type of center that they do not have yet. I’d hold out a while longer and see what shakes loose, something always does.

Yes, my concern with the trade is that we end up with another Leddy for Barker situation. I haven’t personally seen enough Jiricek to comment much, but I do feel more confident in our current scouting staff to get it right.

I also agree that Rossi wouldn’t be involved without another move happening. Makes me curious if a 3 way could get done with NYI for Nelson as well where we end up with Jiricek and Nelson at the expense of Rossi and futures. Nelson would need some retention to join the team at the moment though.

A big RHD is arguably the franchise’s biggest need. Ideally one with more of a defensive bend to his game than Jiricek, but that’s nitpicking. Counting on Spurgeon & Bogo staying healthy is foolish. But something about Jiricek gives me pause. Might be a guy with no toolbox to store all his tools.

What about Stramel + Hunt for Jiricek?
I don’t think that’s nearly enough. Likely will be Ohgren.

I like @Digitalbooya's idea of Ohgren+Spacek+pick (probably 2nd), that's about the most I'd want to give up. Fairly decent chance he never becomes anything special with the skating and attitude issues.

Figured that was a happy balance for everyone. We get a big RHD that will play 3rd pair and can hopefully learn from Spurgeon and Bogosian; a hybrid of the two would be amazing. Columbus gets a quality prospect in Ohgren, a replacement RD prospect that needs a shot, and whatever pick balances the trade (not a 1st).

People need to stop bringing up the names Wallstedt and Buium too. Makes me nervous. BG wouldn't dare touch those guys for that trade.

I think trading a LD for a RD could make a lot of sense given the amount of LD we have organizationally. Obviously not trading Gordie or Brodin. Chisholm in the package maybe? Makes room for Buium at the end of this season and we could run with Bogo-Jiricek on the 3rd pair.

Don't touch my Ohgren. I would do Heidt + 2025 1st instead. Heidt alone won't be enough and the 1st round past 13-15 is very noticeably weak. And if we picking 24,25,26, its not worth as much as other years

Edit: and we got enough centers coming in and I would Ohgren build and skill makeup is more the Wild (and mine) style than the average size of Heidt
