On the Canada side, it's a more interesting question. Crosby is tied for the lead in scoring and he has the big narrative factor going for him. Mack has more goals. McDavid is McDavid. Could come down to which of them has a big game in the final.

I agree. If Sid is just okay and gets a point in a Canada win, it would be his. Some books have him MVP at like +550 or +600, which IMO is good value.

With Canada, I think the top-2 favourites are McDavid then MacKinnon

Imo it’ll come down to who has the biggest game on Thursday. If it’s today, Sid would win hands down. You can argue to the death that he’s a turn over machine or whatever but he’s putting up points and in big moments too. McDavid doesn’t come close if it was done today.

If point or Reinhardt or Makar get a hat trick and earn player of the game I wouldn’t be shocked if they get the award. The tournament is so short, none of them have been poor and the most important game will hold the most weight imo. It’s not likely but I wouldn’t bat an eye.

I agree it’s not likely but it’s very possible as well. I think Crosby has the inside track for Canada and am a-ok with that but no name outside of binner would surprise me for Canada. There’s just not enough separation from one individual to definitively say, imo.

He all but stole the Canada game. Once it was 2-1 the US went into a complete d zone shell and were content to ride Hellebuyck for all 20 minutes of the 3rd.

He didn't really steal it. USA completely shut Canada down when they went up 2 to 1.

I'd be more tempted to give it to Slavin. Played 25 minutes and a plus 3. Been awesome out there all tournament.

Not a sexy name though so it won't happen.

With Canada it depends. Eye test says McDavid is clearly their MVP but stats would say any of Sid, Davo, Mack. Whoever has the best game in the finals likely gets it out of those three.
