Tortorella: "This falls on me. I’m not really interested in learning how to coach in this type of season"

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

He was brought in to revamp the culture . He forced management to trade players , buy out players and rode some players into the ground . Tanked players trade value and to be honest can,t develop a young player if his life depended on it .

He is great for sound bites and jumping up and down but his actual Xs and Os of the game has long passed him . Grind baby grind is his motto . Zero clue about offense , skill , east west , pp , etc...

He has been there 3 years now and they are worse now than when he came and that is even with high picks they have incorp... .

Retire the game has passed you bye .

Oh man I guess we really should've held onto provorov and kevin hayes and TDA!! We're really missing out!!!

The offense, skill, east west, pp, etc has served TOR so well in the playoffs, eh?

Been a frustrating year for him for sure, and he wears his heart on his sleeve. Torts doesn't seem to be developing the kids, and they aren't good enough to win, he should go. FO should maybe be cleaned out too.
The kids are much better than when he started. He just has players with low ceilings to work with. The team needs more high end prospects.

These players are all better:
Zamula
Poehling
Drysdale
Tippett
Brink
Foerster
Cates
Sanheim
TK
Michkov
York

The problem is almost all should be middle six players or #3/#4 D-man.

The torts narratives are so wild on this site. The haters say all these players improved DESPITE torts, which is just nonsense. Sanheim used to be soft as charmin, constantly outmuscled, constantly falling on his ass.

I don't really understand the outrage.

He's saying he doesn't want to learn how to be a coach of a tanking team. He wants to be the coach of a winning team.

Pretty logical.

You are being paid millions of dollars to be the coach of the team. If you don't have interest in doing what is required which is trying to get the most out of the roster regardless of the standings and develop young players, you need to resign.

Imagine being put on a project at work and in the 11th hour saying "I have no interest in this topic".

You're reading too much into it.

Honestly they are worse because Briere traded half the roster, and didn't get anybody instead so they use AHLers now. And now they've lost Ristolainen so they just don't have enough NHLers both for offense and defense. And their goalies are probably the worst in the league.

Can't say Briere wasn't right, though. They need to tank, and get good young players. This and next drafts should be crucial for the team.
