GDT: Toronto vs Flyers - March 25th 2025, TSN4

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

We have 12 games left including tonight. Of those 12, 5 are against what I consider a contending team (Panthers x2, Lightning, Hurricanes, LA Kings).

The rest we SHOULD win (Flyers, Habs, Ducks, Sharks, Jackets, Sabres, Wings).

Absolutely 0 excuse to not win the division
Agreed, I've said all along that the Leafs will win the division because they have an easy schedule the rest of the way and the other contending teams have downgraded meaningfully.

Flyers gave up a TD to Chicago this weekend. Stat padding time for Mitch if he wants to get to 100 points, Willie if he wants to get close to 50 goals. and JT who needs a few cookies to help him get closer to that 3x$7m contract.
Yup, this will be a nice and easy low-contact, lots of open space game for the Leafs. I expect the Leafs power-play will have a field day in this one.

TB and Fla have a pretty easy schedule too. It might come down to the Wings game on Apr 17th

True but I was looking at their schedules too. Panthers don't play at all this week which will rest them, but then they finish the season with a bunch of 4 in 5 days type games.

leafs also catch the Panthers for one of our games we are rested and they are on a B2B.

The Leafs will benefit from an easy schedule and a Panthers team that looks to mostly be playing out the string.
6-4-0 playing out the string
4-5-1 fighting for 1st. place
5-4-1 - just cruising under the radar

Panthers could win the Division without being healthy.

Look at Florida's last 4 or 5 games, and in particular since the Ekblad and Kulikov departures. They haven't looked good. Again, I'm not saying the Leafs have been massive world-beaters either. They simply have the benefit of an easier schedule than Florida, and after tonight the Leafs will hold the tie-breaker. Now, obviously, things can change if Florida wins both of the remaining head to head games, or if the Leafs win both of those games. But assuming they split those games, I think the Leafs are in the driver's seat.

Tampa has a relatively easy schedule to close out the season, as well, so it's possible that they could leapfrog both Florida and Toronto if Tampa wins the remaining games it plays against those two teams. But Tampa struggles on the road may end up being their downfall.

All 3 teams are “fighting for 1st place”. Any insinuation that Florida and Tampa are just on cruise control and not equally trying to win the division is misguided.

Panthers can cruise to the win, they don't seem to have a fear of success.
I don't think it's fear of success. I think Florida simply knows that it's better to preserve energy in these late-season games, especially given the number of important guys they are missing, than push for a particular spot in the standings.

If they lose this game, Leafland will be a truly wild and woolly place.
I'm not betting man, however if I did bet one way or the other on this game, I would expect our Leafs would find a way to screw me over !!!

No NHL opponent is an easy win for our Leafs. All 31 teams try/play harder against our Leafs. Non Leaf players want to prove they are better, or at least work harder, than our over paid core. Our core often fail to match the opponents work efforts.,

Toronto/Ontario born players from other teams play way over their pay grades when playing our Leafs. It's because they are on TV, or are playing at the ACC before family and friends. It's their Stanley Cup by beating our Leafs.

JMHO.

Nashville looks like a cup contender for 2 periods against us, then they lose next game 4-1 to St. Louis. Rinse and repeat.

Just another excuse for losing. Not buying it at all.

Benoit-Myers

It’s time Rielly sits. He’s been Rielly bad

That you would rather have Benoit Myers together, over Rielly in the lineup speaks volumes to the level of hysteria this has taken on, that defies logic.

Benoit and Myers are terrible... well beyond anything Rielly has done this year. 37.3% Expected Goals, and 37.5% actual goals.
