I'm so tired of the media in this town crapping all over the Leafs at a moment's notice, yet daily are like "I don't understand what's wrong with Habs/Sens/Sabres. Completely wierd how bad they're playing with all these amazing young players they have".

The worst trade in Leafs history is Kordic for Courtnall. Montreal got an all star and the Leafs got a avg player that never played for the Leafs because he killed himself before the season started.

Try grabbing a clue, he played 104 games for the Leafs.

It was a bad trade, but Courtnall was never named to an all-star team.

I was wrong about Kordic not playing at all for the Leafs, but it wasn't much and he was very ineffective. Courtnall was a star, not a superstar, but much better than Kordic and Kordic killed himself long before Courtnall stopped playing for Montreal. My friend was right, the Leafs traded Courtnall for a dead guy, how is that not the worst trade? I forgot to mention that Courtnall WAS an all-star in 1994.

You didn't read the whole thread, I corrected myself that Kordic did play almost 2 seasons and sucked. He killed himself while Courtnall was starring for Montreal, so yes at that time you could say that the Leafs traded Courtnall for a dead guy.

I saw the piece which had John Shannon announcing he was leaving the show. I was stunned at how laboured his talking was and how soft his voice sounded. Sad to see/hear the effects the stroke has had on him. The guy was the pinnacle of Canadian radio for a long, long time.

He was the best for years and years but when they brought in that weirdo from New York that didnt know sports, it ruined it.

Yeah, I'm a long time McCown listener going back to the 90's. I was mad when they let him go at the Fan590, and was happy when he came back with the podcast, which did quite well and had some pretty good guests as McCowan always had, and in this longer format could actually discuss things more rather than 10-15 minute bits on traditional media.

He could have just given up after his stroke, but he fought back to try, and while obviously diminished with his speaking, he still had the sharp mind to debate sports issues. Sadly when Shannon jumped ship, that was the writing on the wall.

Thank you Bob for the listening pleasure over the years.
