Well I disagree with that conclusion. Matthews makes 13.25M, Marner should be probably between 12.5-13M as a winger based on the projected cap

It should, but it's probably safe to assume that his camp thinks he is every bit the player Rantanen is. Whether he is or isn't important, that's very likely how they'll approach it.
