Last Q game I saw before Covid shut it down was against Drummondville and Simoneau. Dude was better than any number of already drafted guys on Moncton. Stud.
This is a guy who should watch some NHL games and just curse at the TV to see guys much bigger than him with lazy ass efforts but are able to stay there because of talent. This guy oozes the love of the game. And dedication to it. Fun to watch. He'll stay close by for a few years....and will probably finish his career in Europe somewhere. Being really sucessful doing it.

Was at the game. Some thoughts:

-Defensive breakdowns on all sides. Seems to be all the defensemen, so could be a coaching issue
-Team was horrible and incoherent in the first two periods. Incapable of making the simplest plays.
-Roy didn't have a great game. Uncharacteristically bad play selection for him.
-Mailloux was invisible (aside from one of the aforementioned defensive breakdowns). However, he started cooking along with the team in the third period. He started getting shots to the net, which resulted in a tip in and a rebound goal.
-Houle should be fired for not having Farrell and Mailloux on wave 1 of the power play.
-Gutsy win. They found a strategy in the third that worked... Wrist shots from the point, look for the rebound.

Dobes with a highlight reel save at the 5 min mark, he made some big time saves and easily had his best game of the season, 2 much better games from him although he was still way too aggressive and it cost him on the 3rd goal which just ended up looking worse by the totally disorganized team in front of him on that play but overall you hope he is starting to build off these last 2 starts.

Mailloux with his 1st 2 point game, 4 pts in the last 5 games as the offense is starting to show more but still makes too many mistakes in his own end.

I thought Farrell was one of their best players early on.

Roy was easily the best forward on the ice tonight. I knew this would happen when points weren't on the board for him. Go back and watch the game objectively and count how many times he made high end pro level plays that either resulted in a chance or kept the play alive in the offensive zone.

Too many people on this board form their opinion from the starting point of point totals instead of process. He is the only forward on the team that consistently collects and distributes the puck like an NHLer.

-Struble once again is their best dman.
-Farrell showing progress
-Mailloux the opposite of Roy with a bad game but two points to show for it.
-Dobes with a better result but way too aggressive and was more lucky than good. Hopefully he gets a confidence boost and can calm down a little.

-I'm sorry, man, but I don't agree. In fact, I spent most of the game specifically watching Roy, Mailloux, and Farrell. The problems Roy had this game were in play selection, where he'd pass into opponents' sticks or kill plays. This was, by the way, an issue the whole team had for the first two periods, so it wasn't limited to Roy. As I said, things were disjointed on their end for most of the game.

I've seen a few games this year where he the best player on the ice. This just wasn't one of them, and it has nothing to do with his point totals or the fact that he is the best player on the Rocket, and it's not even close. Everyone can have an off game.

-Mailloux was very, VERY lax defensively on one of the goals, and is still very inconsistent on the defensive side. That, however, translates to most of the team (Trudeau was the worst before he went down). Their defense constantly suffers from breakdowns and leaving guys open. This is not just a Mailloux problem, it's a team problem... But Mailloux needs to be better for success at the NHL level.

Mailloux's two points were a result of his wrister from the point, which is quite the weapon when he gets it through. One was tipped and one was put in on a rebound. The fact that this guy is not on PP1 is a fireable offense.

-Farrell was reasonable. Nothing crazy either way, but he did well on the first goal. Keep in mind this is a one-game time capsule, and I didn't watch on Saturday.
