Mitch Marner should be traded this off-season(but won't). In a package involving Jordan Kyrou to the Blues OR to the Isles in a package revolving around Noah Dobson.

The Noah Dobson time was before Marner's NMC kicked in last summer and Dobson went on this season to show he's basically untradeable

Marner was part of that breakdown, but so were Benoit and Knies. The play:



Benoit chases Pasta really high, that’s a mistake so late in the period IMO, better to stay in position near the net and let Knies chase. But … Knies sees Benoit chasing Pasta, and doesn’t adapt, he doubles Pasta with Benoit. And then, despite there being 2 Leafs on Pasta, neither covers him when he darts to the slot.

Marner makes the decision to cover the point man at the precise wrong time, moving towards the point right as Pasta is moving to the slot. He notices the danger but not fast enough to recover. He definitely makes a mistake too, but that’s a breakdown that all of Benoit, Knies and Marner are equally responsible for IMO.

This is a fireable offense for a coaching staff. A d zone draw loss and we have no D at the net. No d at the net.. I've coached for a long time and I've never in my life seen a D zone draw loss end up with no d men at the net..

Coaching staff? What about the god damn players. These are professional f***in hockey players making millions. How the hell does Benoit not understand there's no need to rush the blueline as a defensemen with 7 seconds left. Instead just stick to Pasta like gum on the bottom of your shoe

Boston have basically made all their chances count so far game 1 and 2 but not dominanting the Leafs so that my bring some hope as well

Typically good goaltending will let you make mistakes. Bad goaltending, it all goes in.

Being way off coverage?.
How about people settle down and understand that was a great pass. Marner blew it but he gets zero credit for defense and criticized for not producing offense. Now he is expected to react 0.5 seconds better for a defensive play on a great goal.

All on our coach Rielly needed to be on the ice period. Marner had to cover the left point and the winger so he stayed between them and got burnt. No D man any where to be seen.
