Felt like we assumed this would be an easy one. It'll be interesting to see how they come out the rest of the way.

Wasn't much energy or skating early on for us.

Keefe does that when the 3rd line has offensive zone starts. Gives Matthews a chance instead of Kampf
 
Not sure Kampf should be centering a line looking to get offense

Simmonds-Kampf-Spezza
 
The boys definitely got a lift from that goal. Decision-making was pretty poor for most of that period, particularly with the puck. Just stop allowing odd-man rushes and we can grind them down on the 2nd night of a b2b.

The effort is there this period but not the smarts. Matthews in particular worked hard but that goal was on him. Why he wouldn’t skate and take that man is not smart. Overpassing not smart. Giveaway around the net, not smart. Rielly also didn’t have a good period. Engvall had a great period though.

Literally none of that has to do with skating slowly. He is playing great and is one of the best players on the planet.

But his speed hasn’t been as good as it has been previously. He also lost coverage on the goal against and gave the puck away for no reason behind the net and gave Detroit a chance in front. So there’s some opportunity there

I was hoping for around what he signed. I said it back then... Mo really is a team first guy. He isn't perfect but he's great. At that price you can't complain. Any team would take him at that.

He cares about winning. More guys in the future I hope look at that when time comes.

Riellys contract almost compensates for overpaying Mitch.
