Post-Series Talk: Toronto Maple Leafs defeat the Ottawa Senators, 4-2

Inevitable outcome, even if the Leafs did once again make it harder on themselves than it needed to be.
Two o.t wins and scoring with 5 minutes to go and it was inevitable. What a sad pathetic fanbase. Nothing is inevitable with that group other than they wont win anything important. Matthews is the most overrated athlete on the planet.

Reactions: Sens With Benefits
So much oxygen was spent talking about the Leafs, and their potential to choke away in the post-season again, that it really overshadowed that the Sens played a far better series than I expected them to.

I always expected them to grow into the series, but after game 1 they played with such strong structure, and unusually for a young inexperienced team this time of year, seemed very comfortable when playing without the puck.

Take it from a Leafs fan when I say this - enjoy the feeling right now of promise, hope, and fun to come. This part is easy. What's to come is the really challenging part. Evolving into a team that can compete and win series and go deep, is where things get excruciating. There's a novelty and naivety about where the Sens are right now.. a certain blissful ignorance.. that should be cherished and enjoyed and celebrated, because before you know it, it's gone.
The bolded just shows how many leaf fans knew nothing about a team in their division. Let alone a provincial rival.

This sens team is nothing like the leafs. There is real character and players that dont simply want to maximize the pay cheque. We dont need advice from a leaf fan about what to expect, we have watched really good sens teams develop who were actual contenders.

If the Leafs are smart they let M+M go and build around Nylander
The leafs could technically replace apart of Marner’s production with Domi or Cowan at RW and use the Marner money to rebuild the 3rd line with some high impact players. But there’s no guarantee it makes them better. In regards to Auston there’s no way we could ever replace him.

His contract is currently terrible and he is massively overpaid. Are you sure about that? Your own fans were talking about healthy scratching him before last game.
I am sure about that. He had a rough season...but when he signed his contract he could have gotten a lot more then he did.

Its insane that someone that watches this team as much as you do cant even identify who your teams best player is.
The guy has no clue what he's seeing out there, but doubles down on his shit takes constantly.

Hey bud you can take the rest of the post season off you guys got embarrassed on home ice.

No need to be in here talking about Leafs overpaid players when your 8 million dollar goalie had an .880 save % in the series. Talk about massively overpaid.

I think it's unfair to paint an entire fanbase with the same brush.

I work with a few Leaf fans and they are some of the most down to earth and kind folks in my department.

There are a bunch of bad apples too, perhaps more so than other fanbases but that's due to the size of said fanbase.
I work with an absolute beauty Sens fan. We can talk hockey back and forth from both perspectives. Never stoops to the level some of these clowns do (on both sides)

Fun series. Has to be a lot to like from that Sens group; add a top C, they’ll be hard to contain.

Sens are young and made mistakes at critical times. Plus Leafs killed them in the face-off circle. Sens will be back stronger and more prepared.

Leafs are in their prime now. Excited to see how they do against Florida.

Why get so defensive?

Has nothing to do with ignorance - I was referring to coverage, both regionally and nationally.

Even TSN1200 Ottawa spent forever talking about the Leafs.

Wow. Is that the famous Sens Spartan in your avatar?
