GDT: Toronto Maple Leafs at Ottawa Senators - 7pm - SN / CBC / TVAS - Round 1 | Game 6 - More Pressure, Another Must Win, It’s All Good

Pandering to our fan base will not make the Maple Leafs anywhere near a contender.

It's nice to be a good winner, but dude your team has been a perennial loser for 8 years and is about to be smoked by the Florida Panthers. The Leafs will not contend for another cup until a full rebuild is done, and we both know Toronto management will never get that right.

Will you go congratulate the Panthers fan base when they have swept you out of their building?

Unnecessary.

That was fun.

Disappointing because you never want to lose to TML, but hey, they fought back from 0-3 and almost forced a game 7 against a team that is oozing with offensive talent.

Tons of great moments:
-Brady isn't at 100% and was point per game and probably only took one stupid penalty all series long.
-Stu didn't score as much as we needed him to, but he was skating with an endless motor.
-Sanderson was probably our best player and hasn't even hit his prime.
-Kleven elevated his game and his development is fantastic.

There's players that need some re-evaluation because they might not be the best fit, but hey it's a lot of guys first time in the playoffs.

I hope we play TML again next year (wouldn't say no to those bastards missing the playoffs 😏)

These playoffs were an important learning experience for the Senators. This team will reap the benefits of being here and fighting the way that they did. I can see a really big season for a lot of the boys starting in October.

The vibes with Brady and the city are completely 180 from what they were last year and even at the beginning of the season. The guy seems like he genuinely wants to win in Ottawa and the emotional connection to the city feels very real.

We’re lucky to have him and we shouldn’t take it for granted.

I think he had 1.75 feet out the door earlier in the season around the soft tampering and now he is here for life, or at least another 3 years.

My ears are still ringing.

I liked seeing everybody chant go Sens go after the game. Give them their props. Brady, Jensen, and others were playing hurt. The series could have gone either way.

It sucks to lose but this was a massive step forward for the team.

I watch many sports, Bradys leadership is some of the best I've seen from a young man. He is brilliant, well spoken and articulate in difficult moments. He plays a heavy game, a truly uniwue power forward and delivers night in and night out, kudos to him. When he makes mistakes like the penalty he took today, he almost always seems to get the team going with a goal funny enough. It's a pleasure to root for him win or lose.
This team also needs to work on their PK.

Chabot had a solid playoffs as well, tough start like everyone else, really came on the last 4 games

Absolutely wild he played over 5 mins more than Sanderson tonight though, that’s something that needs to be asked, why Sanderson saw such little playing time.

He should have been out there for 28+ minutes in a do or die game at home where they’re playing from behind.
Well consider the box score

Realistically I have no problem with Chabot playing more than Sanderson tonight. What I have an issue with is playing the Kleven - Matinpalo pairing at all after the tying goal...

The experience is incredibly valuable. It’s like your first time going to third base with a girl. You don’t know what’s going on at first. Eventually you get the hang of it and know what it takes the get the job done
I think we definitely knew what was going on. And we played like it. We played well. Experience won’t make anyone better. They need to get better. And the team needs to get better.

Well consider the box score

Kleven matinpalo has been fine. There were shift tonight where matinpalo was with chabot as well.

I don’t understand having batherson and cozens out there in a tie game

Big sad, not gonna lie.

Love this team though. Fought until the end.
Totally.

Still really sad / disappointed. Sens had a slow start, went down 2-0 and fought back to tie it. Felt like the series was ours.

Still, an incredibly fun and bright season. What a fun game to be at to end it. I thought Ottawa NYR Game 4 2012 was electric and one of the big contributing factors was the crowd between play. Sens fans were so so great tonight, if the crowd can help them at all, they did as much as they could.

I don't disagree that they've been fine. But when we're talking 6 mins left in the 3rd period in a tie game you gotta get the horses out there.

6 minutes is a long time to play down an entire pair
Oh I was meaning rotating the pairs. But honestly what I wanted to see was a time out after the Perron goal to get a bit of a reset. The team was playing too loose.

He never was, that was fan fiction perpetuated by you with zero evidence.

Whatever makes you feel like things have changed for the better though ;)

Good series boys.

I thought Sanderson, Chabot, and Zub were simply outstanding. That is a terrific nucleus you have.
