GDT: Toronto Maple Leafs at Ottawa Senators - 7pm - SN / CBC / TVAS - Round 1 | Game 6 - More Pressure, Another Must Win, It’s All Good

Can’t be too upset with this. Valuable experience. Now they know what it takes to win in the playoffs. They will be back. They’ve got a taste now. Proud of this group

Good series.

Batherson and Chabot don't have the foot speed to be that soft. They can go quick once they get going but it takes too long. Can probably go with them again next year but need to look at options.

Did G announce his retirement? Honestly not sure what to do with him. Hopefully he decides to rest until Jan or the deadline and signs a cheaper deal.
Chabot was a stud out there. Better than Sanderson. Batherson was invisible though.

Coming in peace

Just wanted to say you guys have a really bright future. Despite the loss, there's lots to be proud about. Brady is a phenomenal leader for 1, you got a stud on the blue line in Sanderson, and Zub was surprisingly really impressive.

You'll be back here next year, this is an awesome experience for your guys young group. I know it's tough but there's lots of positives and lots to look forward to with this group you guys have.

It was a really tight series, multiple OT games and honestly could have gone either way. But it was a great series and it was a lot of fun chatting you guys on the mains.

Love the acknowledgement the fans gave the team in the end there too. Lots to be proud of and lots to build on, wishing you all the best. Cheers.

We were a goalpost away from being swept. Glad we made a series out of it. Thought we'd pull this out for sure once Perron tied it. The media is going to have a field day with Berube's decision to put Patches on the second line and he didn't disappoint. Feels bad man. What a ride though. Hope we don't have to wait too long to be back into the playoffs again.

The biggest differentiator in terms of what can either help this team elevate or hold them back is Batherson, Cozens and Zetterlund. We got very little from them these playoffs and still looked competitive - if they can take the strides Staios is banking on, we’ll be pretty dangerous. If not… we’ve got a number of holes.

But I think it’s clear now, if it wasn’t before, that Stützle, Sanderson and Tkachuk are legitimately elite. We’ve also got a lot of other good pieces. So at the very least, it’s a good start.
Yes sir. Agreed and well said. That's pretty much how I feel, but we can't have an ineffectual 2nd line again.

Sucks, but not even that mad. It took 6 games for them to eliminate a team with 0 collective playoff experience. Tons of guys got their first playoff goals this series. We didn't just lay down and die against a much more seasoned team when the odds and stats were against us, we showed heart and I'm proud of that. Different story next year when we make it again. Go Sens Go.
Nah I’m not losing sleep.

They’re the best team in the east, and couldn’t even sweep us with a 3-0 lead, and needed 6 games to beat us.

Boys can be proud. We played every home game we could.

Ended up scoring Last second seats to the game, what an unbelievable atmosphere tonight was.

We were never supposed to win this series. Our goal was the make the playoffs and we did.

The boys played unreal and learned something you cannot teach.

Remember, we beat Pittsburgh in 5 in 07 and the next year they were a force.

This is just the end of Episode 1 in the series of what’s to come, you never beat the final boss in the first movie.

Definitely happy to go to game 3 and 6. Missed how loud the arena can get this time of year. It is almost harder that every game was so close than if we just lost a bunch of 4-1 games.

Disappointing, but can't be too upset. They played well, battled back from down 0-2 in the game and 0-3 in the series to make something of these playoffs. Still feels like we leave a lot of meat on the bone in terms of scoring chances, but don't finish a lot of the time. We do need some more offensive firepower, just not sure where it's going to come from given that the UFA market isn't great for what we are looking for. Ehlers would be good, but that depends what we are going to do at centre and I'm not sure we will spend enough to get him.

We should obviously always be tweaking the team, but realistically, we don't need major changes. We just need to let the team continue to grow and gain experience.
To an extent, I agree. We have the nucleus of something for sure, just need to add a bit and have faith that the core can continue to grow.

Now the hockey Canada trial started I wonder if that was having an effect on him.
I'm sure it's on his mind. How could it not be?

But I guess I'd give that more credence if what we saw from Batherson was out of character, but to me he was the same player he's always been. He wants to toe-drag and backhand sauce across the ice no matter what the situation is. He doesn't want to work defensively and doesn't have a great feel for that sort of thing to begin with. He stood out to me for not really being able [or willing?] to change.

The playoffs are a tough place for PP specialists.

To be fair, Crosby and Malkin alone are worth all three of our top lines combined.

Getting rid of batherson is part of improving your team. We have seen the playoffs. He’s a guy who just does not want or simply can’t play smart? Or hard.
He went out of his way to lay very light hits. But then when it’s a 50 /50 puck he gets bodied by much smaller players.

Yea he exactly. Has the team Canada investigation be on his mind his whole career? Guy just can’t do what you need him to do.

I actually liked cozens tonight. Was a non factor but he didn’t do anything too stupid but he can’t play with a winger who is also brutal defensively and lazy.

Cozens needs to play with two motors who will baby sit him

Batherson is still a net positive. Only reason to move him is to actually do something witht that cap space. I doubt he comes here but I’d be wll in on overpaying Ehlers huge if we move Batherson.
