Why do NHL defensemen still both go into the corners. Shouldn’t it be obvious that if you see your partner in the corner you stay in front of the net?

Some teams, at times, will use a what i used to call a double down defense. You would send the second D into the 2 on 2 battle to outman a strong opponent... win the puck and breakout. Slot winger covers the front and then stretches when the puck is recovered. Let's see if we do it anymore tonight.
