He did. Chose to stay in Canada and the Whitecaps are likely to use a DP spot on him when his contract is over with Nottingham in 6 months.

Laryea would have been able to hack it in Europe if he found the right fit.. Sure as heck wasn't Forest. They wouldn't even put him in the game day 18 which means there was a big disconnect between the manager and technical director.
He was signed by a second division team as coverage for Spence who was the best RB in the Championship. They then got promoted to the premier league and signed a record number of players before the season. Laryea was on the outs at that point.

John Herdman, Toronto FC have had informal talks about coaching job
Toronto FC has been without a permanent head coach since parting ways with former head coach and sporting director Bob Bradley in June.
John Herdman has emerged as a possibility to take over Toronto FC’s vacant head coaching job, The Athletic has learned Monday.
Canada’s men’s national team head coach is not believed to have had a formal interview for the position, but multiple sources familiar with the hiring process told The Athletic he has had informal conversations with TFC about what the job entails.
Multiple sources told The Athletic that Bobby Smyrniotis, head coach of the Canadian Premier League’s Forge FC, and current D.C. United assistant Carl Robinson are among the other prospective coaches who have had formal interviews for the position.
Toronto FC has been without a permanent head coach since parting ways with former head coach and sporting director Bob Bradley at the end of June. Terry Dunfield has served as interim head coach since then, with Jason Hernandez serving as sporting director.
Herdman’s contract as Canada’s men’s national team head coach runs through the 2026 World Cup, according to former Canada Soccer general secretary Earl Cochrane.
Even without a formal interview, the conversations suggest a level of mutual interest from both Herdman and TFC.

If I were guessing, I would say that viewership is up overall and across most markets in the US. OTOH, I would guess that TFC's market has just cratered.
