I think we are going to be looking at a wild card spot by the break. The way they are playing and can't score I can see them getting very little from this trip. Everyone thinks they were cruising. Ottawa 4 points behind and we are a half dozen points from missing the playoffs which to me isn't a certain.
If they keep playing like they have the last couple months and our goalies don’t stand on their heads it certainly is possible. Personally I’d be okay with missing if it meant getting away from the hopeless core because if they run it back again with a hefty raise for Marner I’m tapping out anyway.

Yeah we're squarely in the mess of a playoff race that is the Eastern Conference. A barely above .500 January with every loss being in regulation will do that. Maybe the team will prove us wrong but right now I'm prepping for a continued freefall in the standings.

a game over .500 will likely gurantee a wildcard the rest of the way. And lots of teams play each other and hard to pass in a straightline. But yeah, they need wins bad. They were +1800 to miss the pkayoffs before losing 3.

The Leafs go through these cycles every season. When everyone thinks they are done, they roll off four or five wins in a row and the bandwagon fills up again. I imagine it will be no different this time around. At the same time, teams like Ottawa and Tampa will cycle through 3 or 4 game losing streaks. Remember a couple of weeks ago when everyone was stroking Montreal's knob? Then they promptly rolled off 4 losses in a row. At the end of the season, it will be Toronto, Florida and Tampa in the top three spots in the Atlantic.

Unfortunately the Leafs pick up their losing cycle in he playoffs every year

I know a way to fix this, Connor!
Still remember one of his first times in Toronto, when we won the game and he stayed out on the ice watching the Leaf players celebrating and salivating at the idea that he could one day join them.

Then Ed turned into a real boy team while we've struggled to get through a round, and sadly - he's never looked back.

Still leaving a light on for him though, should he ever change his mind and wanna come back home!

Stolarz is backing up that's awesome.

Team is almost healthy just need JT back.

Never mind I missed Tavares being back at 2C, so the team is healthy?

It's about damn time.
They were entertaining earlier in the season when they had a full lineup, maybe they can put the last month behind them and get 10 points this month.

It's not the leafs though, it's the broadcasters

Oh, I realize that. I didn't say it was a rational hate. It's always been stupid to blame the team or its fans for this. Just saying McDavid's not wrong. And what about the fans in Edmonton? What a crappy time to go to a game.

Major reason? Around the league or just those 4 small market teams?

And as we’ve seen for 8 yrs the core doesn’t like playing in prime time.

Definitely just western Canadian fans. Just saying it's always been a justifiable complaint. Things are different these days but it wasn't that long ago some of these fans couldn't even watch their own team play on a Saturday night because CBC would play the Leafs in their broadcast region instead. That's not our fault but it's definitely one of the major reasons these fans hate our team and fans.
