Thank dog! finally no Marner which which frees the team from his infernal assisting, now Matthews can just shoot it in the net. Thinking 4 goal night for the big boy now that the albatross is off his back, he no longer has to stand around waiting all night for Marner to finally pass it to him.

More likely Matthews will be lost without his buddy.

Domi with Matthews was magic last year. Domi had a great season, Matthews scored 69. Insane that it hasn't been tried before tonight. Really hope Max has a great game to show Berube this is a viable option.

I still think the best version of this team has Matthews/Marner split up and Domi is the obvious playmaker to replace him. It worked before.

For a short spell sure, Domi is streaky. I'd be happy if it confirms to Berube that Matthews doesn't need Marner all the time, because we know Mitch doesn't need him. Be nice to have options in the playoffs, spread out the offence.
