Post-Game Talk: Toronto 2 Devils 1 - The I hate the SO edition

It is hilarious that Pete won't even trust Tedenby one-on-zero. We're literally 0-for-our last 21 in the shootout dating back to last year. We've won just two of our last seventeen extra-time games. TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

But Zajac, Henrique, Ryder bruh.

Zajac was at least semi-successful in the skills competition before this year, and had the best shot last night. But the other two really gotta go.

Travis Zajac was on for 20 shot attempts for and one against during 5 v. 5 play. That's unbelievable.

I don't care that Jagr hates the shootout and *claims* to not be any good at it.

He's Jaromir Jagr. The other devils are not.

I would've put him out there in the Shootout REGARDLESS and see if he can do something. The other Devils players aren't doing jack either so even if Jagr doesn't score, it's nothing new but at least I would be putting MY BEST PLAYER(sadly) out there. Besides, I seem to remember a certain Russian Merc who sucked at the shootout but then at some point started to EXCEL at it....

No reason that Jagr couldn't do the same.

My Shootout players would be :

1.) Jagr

2.) Elias(if healthy)

3.) Zubrus(why the hell not?)

That's incredible. His hands seem to have left him and his contract looks pretty because of it, but if he keeps it up, Zajac should get serious Selke consideration.

For shootouts use Jagr, Elias and Zidlicky with Zajac as the substitute.

Shootout mess all on DeBoer and his selections

Replace Gionta or Janssen with Josefson and win game without shootout.

How has Gelinas been looking in that regard with the shots F and A when he is on the ice?

Best I've seen him look defensively all year. It was fun to watch. If Pando can get Selke consideration Zajac should as well.

Gelinas' soft pass leading to the goal was a thing of beauty. I was pissed at first because I wanted him to just dump it. I assumed a pass would of been intercepted by the Leaf in front of him.

Beautiful pass.

Not saying that shootouts aren't important, but if we could find someone who could ********* score a goal we could avoid that situation entirely. In the last 4 games, our goals have been:

1. An own goal
2. An empty netter
3. A deflection from 20 feet out - the only legit goal, but "lucky".
4. Janssen

Pathetic. This is where losing 100 goals a year kills us. There is absolutely no one on this roster that I have faith in to score.

Watching those Tedenby goals makes me sad. DeBoer broke him so badly that he barely wants to skate with the puck or take a shot…..or maybe Lou should give him is old #21 back since #9 is cursed.

Not sure why DB doesn't consider Brunner? Brunner as a Red Wing was 2-7 (shoot out) and both were GWG. Also goalies have a "book" on players (Schneider/Raymond). No one has tendencies on Teddy/Brunner and Loktionov! Zajac/Henrique are predictable. There's no book on Gelinas either.
C'mon Pete, throw em a curve!

Tedenby has been playing with a lot more confidence these past few games, similar to how he was playing under Lemaire

Him Ryder and Henrique play well together, I just wish Henrique would stop Langenbrunnering it; stickhandling while gliding looking for a pass rather than using his speed to blow by

I am still chuckling at Gionta chasing Kessel before scoring like a grandpa chasing after a kid who just stole his power tool.

So I guess speed is of no concern for DeBoer in 4 on 4, and rested players may also keep resting, especially after back to backs like this.

Don't want to be some Tedenby fanboy but why the hell was he not playing in OT and why did he not get a shot in the shootout. He is the fastest skater on the team and he might even, you know, backcheck faster because of it. In case there is a 3 on 1 for example.

I actually came here to mention that Gionta play too.

Why the hell is Deboer putting that group of 4 on the ice anyway? And Gionta...lord wtf

Gio shouldn't be out PKing but at least in comparison to Henrique and Zidicky, he attempted to keep up with Kessel
