Krug had 2 goals on the PP all last season and 0 so far this year. His goals are down because his shooting % is only 1.8%. Also, the PP is using a different configuration this year. As long as it's more effective, does it matter if Krug is getting goals or assists.

yes change cause krug couldn't score so they went a different direction same reason they replaced chara with krug. I'm glad the pp is working but it's not cause krug. so you want to pay 5th defensemen has trouble in his own end and does nothing on pp 5mil?

Krug does nothing on the PP? All 5 players contribute to the first unit being what it is. So now Krug has gone from a PP specialist to a 5th defenseman that can't play defense? :shakehead

Krug is exceptionally snake bitten. He has to be close to double digit posts by now if not exceeding it. Players go through it. Just 2 years ago Marchand couldn't hit the broadside of a barn in the playoffs for this team and now he can possibly hit 35 goals.

People focus too much in the now when evaluating something. If he didn't score a goal then he's ****. Oh someone scored a goal they must be great.

No way in Hell is Krug worth 5 million. 5th or 6th D-man with limited PP skill. The guy can't score or defend.

Legit second pair IF they have the right partner sure sounds like a #4-5 defenseman.

I think a 15-20% better version of McQuaid would be the perfect partner for Krug on a second pairing. Something of the mold of what people are hoping Carlo can turn into.

What is the right partner?
He needs to play with someone bigger than him and apt at defense..well isnt that what everyone needs?

Krug is and will be a #3 on this team, not his fault we need a #2 and a #4.

If Krug doesn't start hitting the net with his shots I'm gonna lose it.... he gets tons of good looks and blows 90% of them wide! he's better than that and needs to get back to it to help this dismal D group.

Krug is a special unit type player. He is good on the power play and thats about it. Very undersized and great as a supplemental player but can't be a main piece of your D unit in my opinion.

wonder if it's worth exploring playing him on the right side with Chara??? moves some pieces around underneath and gives him a big strong capable partner and gives chara someone a little more reliable.

Chara-Krug
Seids-C miller
Morrow-Mcquaid

seems better than what we've been icing....k miller and trotman both had terrible games last night.

Your opinion.

I think he's still improving and can be a legit 2nd pair with the right partner.

Spot on.

He's growing into a solid second pairing guy. His D-zone starts are up 5% from last year and 10% from the year before. He is playing on average 2 minutes+ more a night than ever before and all the while he's kept a positive Corsi. He may top out as a low-end offensive #4 that needs a good #3 to be paired with but he's a legit threat on the PP and on odd man situations.

He just keeps getting better. He's had some issues of late but then again the entire defense has.

I've been on this train for a while... he's a perfect 3rd pairing guy and 1st PP unit for 4M a year.... he can always slide up and down the depth chart if need be.

I think morrow can be a more complete 2nd pairing guy on the left side if given the chance.

I have been saying this for sometime, Krugg is a 5th or 6th D-man and PP specialist. Now I have seen he is looking for a raise from his 3.5 million to over 4 million...no way. This is where the Bruins have got in trouble in the past.

He is out muscled a lot but that is because he is suppose to provide scoring which offsets that. He isn't doing that either. He is the Spooner of defense.

Krug is a bottom defense pair on a contender. A 3/4 on a decent team.

Agreed.

If Krug is your #5 instead of your #3, your D is probably pretty good.

No, he's a legit first pair without the right partner (unless you believe Zach Trotman is a #2 defenseman).

I don't believe this.

With the right partner (ok on D, fast puck mover so Z doesn't have to handle the puck too much) he's a legit 1st pair. With Trotman, he's not, which is what we are seeing now. But that's a discussion for another thread. With the right partner (big, physical guy that can take on the mismatches for Krug) complimenting him, Krug can play Top 4 D.

The issue seems to be that the B's don't have either of those ideal partners for Chara or Krug.

top defensemen should be able to carry his #5-6th defense. but it seem trotman has to do most of the leg working the zone while chara sit there waving his stick around. yes we know you have a long reach.
