So what you are saying is...
1- Leafs have cap issue to the point where they can't afford a real #1 G, If you know it, the other 31GMs know it too
2- In order to acquire a bit of relief, they are willing to get rid of bad contracts (Kerfoot, Muzzin) to gain cap space.
3- Their delusional fans think they can actually get a valuable asset (top100 pick) for their bad contracts (which has been shown NOT to b the case the past few years where team PAID assets to gain cap flexibility)
4- Their best argument is that a 30-40pts F for his entire career scored 50 this year playing along superstars, which means he's worth at least a 2nd rd pick right?

See THIS is why you're not getting what you ask for. Getting rid of Kerfoot or Muzzin would cost the Leafs at least a 2nd rd pick cause bottom feeder teams won't send out any picks for a guy they don't need, and contenders woN't want a 3.5M$ 3rd-4th liner, while middle of the standings team are likely also cap strapped and will be lookign at a salary-in/out kind of deal.

Your prelude makes no sense whatsoever. Their best bet would be to dump Kerfoot to a team tat has 2 goalies (there's not a lot of them) in hopes it works out better than Campbell.
Leafs have no interest in trading Muzzin, he was really good for us in the playoffs and bounced back from injury nicely. Your stating it will cost the leafs a 2nd to move kerfoot and you call me delusional. Your wishful thinking and hoping the leafs get screwed but your hope doesn't equal reality. 50 point players with 1 year left who are excellent penalty killers don't cost assets to move. Your choosing hate over reason and it shows.

He's not a 50pts player when he isn't glued to Tavares/Nylander. he's a 30-40pts player.

why do people in this thread act like 3.5M is some sort of supercontract? it compares with guys like Goodrow, Brown, Connolly, Ferland, Compher, Eller, Tanev, Armia, Johnsson and is VERY much bottom 6 level money. I don't like Kerfoot at all and hope my team never gets a player like him but you're not getting a 3rd liner for $2M, this thread is stuck in 2010

Fact is he put up 50 points while being an excellent penalty killer. For a team that needs depth and can afford him, he's absolutely worth a couple 3rds. You stating he'd cost a 2nd to move shows how very little you actually know about the game of hockey.

Finally someone who is honest and understands the game. I respect your honesty.

Your Worst Nightmare
Sounds like the perfect player for a cap strapped team like Toronto to keep. Weird how they still want to dump him...
If they want to open up cap space he is a relatively large salary that can be moved for positive value, Justin Holl is a smaller contract that can be moved to open up a bit more. That way they can skim around the core money pieces like Nylander and Muzzin if there aren't worthwhile trades available through that route. They may keep him, like they did last season when everyone thought he was gone and they made a trade to keep him, he's just really easy to move. After they dump Mrazek and bring in a goalie, maybe there is enough with those two moving to bring in a couple important pieces that change the group.

Very happy to know Armia would fetch a 2nd rd pick considerint the majority of the people on this board consider him a cap dump at this point

FYI, none of these guys returned a 2nd, which is the ask in this thread

Kerfoot has 1 year left on his deal which requires very little long term commitment. Armia just signed a new deal. You can't honestly think its the same situation can you ? Habs fan makes sense considering another habs fan just though Josh Anderson plus a late 1st and 2nd could get the 2nd overall from the Devils. Get a clue.

This thread is about Hathaway 1 for 1. The point of the post you are quoting is not that he should have similar value. The point is he makes similar money to those players. None of the players mentioned have ever put up 50 points in a season.

Also because you are a habs fan you will know that Eller was in fact traded for 2 2nd's. Shaw was also acquired for 2 2nd's and promptly paid more than Kerfoot. Shaw also has never put up 50 points in a season despite being paid more than Kerfoot.

Eller was NOT paid 3.5M$ at the time of the trade and was still seen as having 2nd C potential.
Shaw brings physicality and leadership, something Kerfoot knows little about
