Marner will sign an extension with the Leafs and they will overpay him for it. Reilly does nothing for Van, other than being a hometown boy. TOR is not a good fit for EP. He would not fare well with the media/fan scrutiny. Would love Hronek on the Leafs, but I'm not seeing any reason for Van moving him.

Vancouver has to make a move, but it won't be with Toronto. Not a good fit.

but what if toronto doesnt want him back? do to new contract. i would think Marner would accept a trade to a destination where he can get the 8th year.

I'm not a Vancouver fan, so I'm just looking at it from an outsider's perspective. I'm not seeing a benefit for Vancouver in that deal. If Pettersson wanted out, maybe they'd consider something with Marner coming back, but I don't think they'd be interested in swapping Hronek for Reilly as part of it. That's just my take on it.

This trade doesn't help Vancouver. Toronto seems to be happy with their guy anyhow .
