Big PK guy in Chicago, but I don't see where he fits personally unless it's am Engvall/Mik replacement

Guess he will play 4th line C, but I have him in my head as a LW

how does a guy with 1 goal in 56 games get 1.5 million for two years? this makes his Simmonds signing look good
His shooting percentage was 1.6% last year. His average is 6%. Looks great on the dot and played 14 mins a game last year. Looks like our new 3rd line center.

Shutdown center.

From an article:

The Czech native led the team this season by starting 67.4% of the time in the defensive zone. Yet he still finished the season with a minus-3 plus/minus rating and with a 47.5 Corsi For percentage (leading all forwards). That’s pretty impressive when you’re spending most of your time in the defensive zone. Touching on some of his other stats, Kampf’s 31 takeaways was tied for second on the team, and his eight giveaways were extremely low. Another thing Kampf is extremely good at is winning faceoffs. He led the team in this department, winning 52.8 % of his draws (while taking the most draws on the team).

You can't have a 3rd line center with his level of offense. He's a below average 4C at best, similar to Gauthier

A 4C for a team that does not need a 4C? They better not thing Kampf is a 3C... Because he is not.

Not really sure about this one. Contract is really high for a guy who should be getting sub-1 mill. They must think he is better than he is...

Or they are planning on a really defensive 3rd line.
Kampf Engvall Spezza Simmons brooks is a diverse and decent mix of different strengths to be able to pull from the the 4th line

Sounds like someone they really wanted for defensive match ups, PK and faceoffs. Overpaying a bit for a defensive minded forward seems a little off though and unlike what Dubas usually does.

This is why he was signed. Shutdown C who will PK and win faceoffs.

He has started 37.8% of his shifts in the defensive zone, the highest rate of any Hawks player, and only 17.7% of his shifts in the offensive zone, the second-lowest rate.
And the list of players he has been matched against the most looks like a Central Division all-star team.
Lightning stars Brayden Point, Ondrej Palat and Anthony Cirelli are the three forwards Kampf has played against the most, followed by Joe Pavelski of the Stars, Jack Roslovic of the Blue Jackets and Dylan Larkin of the Red Wings. The top three defensemen are no less than the Jackets’ Seth Jones, the Predators’ Roman Josi and the Stars’ John Klingberg.
Despite constantly finding himself in situations where it’s difficult to succeed, Kampf ranks second-best among regular Hawks forwards in goals allowed, third-best in shot attempts allowed and fourth-best in scoring chances allowed per minute at even strength. He also leads Hawks forwards in short-handed ice time.

Seems like a 4th line C that PKS, something that Toronto actually needed, we haven't had a legit faceoff ceterman for the PK the past two years. Wonder if that means they move on from Engvall or someone

Spent the last three full seasons with Chicago, so I'm guessing no.

Well there are players play in NHL all their life then end up in AHL so that's not a very good indicator

Is he better than anyone in our bottom 6 right now if you add Robertsson, Anderson, Buntin
