I read the title as if it said negative 1 years. Looking at the comments, I might have read it correctly after all.

Good move, bottom pairing tough vet RHD, that we can flip when/if we're out at the deadline.

Not a terrible bottom pairing defenseman overall. He was good versus L.A., meh versus Nashville, and had a decent series against the Blues. But he got absolutely railroaded against the Penguins. At one point I think like nearly 90% of the 5v5 goals against the Sharks were with him on the ice. Granted, Brendan Dillon wasn't his ideal partner but he of every player in teal struggled the most against the Pens speed.

It's July 2nd relax

I am relaxed... What kind of reply is that?

And the date is irrelevant. Those are the Leafs NHL D. You can waive Carrick or Corrado, but you will lose them.

Sure there can be a trade, but what does that accomplish? It just means you lose a good young player for Roman Polak.

If they can't beat out Polak or Marincin or Hunwick for a spot they're not good enough long term anyways. Who cares if you lose that caliber of player.

Which reality is that? While I don't see us making the playoffs at this point in time, I don't see us fighting for last overall again either.

Name five teams in the league the Leafs are better than, not better in the long term future, better than in 2016-17?

Maybe CBJ and Vancouver? Everyone else is objectively better by my count.

Polak one year deal? TDL bait, Tank signing.

The mixed signals this signing is causing is crazy. It's ranging from good signing, that lends itself to the idea that he will be worth some decent picks again at the TD, and also that he is obviously rated by other GM's as okay off-worthy, to he's a rubbish signing that indicates Toronto are tanking again...

If he got us a decent haul before, was deemed valuable enough for the Cup runners up, and could garner more picks again, he can't exactly be a waste of time or bad signing, can he?

If the Leafs can add 8 more points than last year, they won't be a bottom 5 team. Between Matthews, Andersen, a full year of JVR, a full year of Nylander, and younger players developing, getting 4 more wins over the course of a season is more likely than not doing that.

It's not a matter of predicting who they'll be better than right now. Some teams will underperform, some teams will have key players injured. Those teams will exist, but predicting who they are right now is impossible.

I mean they were in last by a single point in a relatively injury filled season, half of which was played by a goalie having a historically bad year until the last month or so. Call it a hunch but I don't expect Andersen to be as bad as Sparks or first-half Bernier. They're also going to be playing high end rookies who have already shown themselves capable of scoring at the NHL level instead of Parenteau, Matthias, Spaling and co.

It's overwhelmingly likely to be a bottom-10 finish no question, but they needed a lot of things to go wrong to finish 1 point behind the Oilers last year, it's not reasonable to expect another last place finish.

Was by far the worst defenseman in the Stanley Cup finals. Don't know why Leaf fans are happy about this.

I'd waive Corrado. He sucks to be honest. There is a reason why Vancouver waived him.
