To TOR: Schenn, Jankowski
To NSH: Domi, 2025 3rd, one of Benoit or Timmins

Nashville picks up draft capital for two bottom of the lineup players. Nashville is currently 31st in the league in scoring, they take a chance here on Domi to help them score. Domi's production has fallen off a cliff because he's been in the Leafs bottom 6 all season with players who can't score. Domi has averaged 50 points/82 GP over his career and the offense is still there - he just needs better line mates which maybe he can find in Nashville. Timmins and Benoit are fill in bottom pair D with non-league minimum salary. They are included for cap purposes. Jankowski fills in on Toronto's 4th line.

Don’t hate it. In theory Leafs need the scoring depth more but if they expect Jarnkrok back I think he’s a better fit than Domi on the third line anyway. The team would miss Domi’s passion though (when he’s not taking penalties).

The team that’s 31st in goals for swaps out their defenseman with lowest TOI/GP (15:20) for a 29 year old forward that’s averaged 50 points/82 GP in his career for the additional cost of 1M.

Max Domi is garbage and not a piece any general manager would look at acquiring to help their offence no matter how you want to crunch the numbers.

He has three goals this season and is a black hole defensively and is prone to stupid penalties.

The Predators could absolutely get more of Luke Schenn should the trade him without having to take on salary and a lousy player.

Again, I don't see why Nashville would even consider such a move.

This seems more personal that factual. Domi is not good as a bottom 6 player. He has been more than competent as a top 6 complimentary top 6 player throughout his career. He has been stapled to the Leafs bottom 6 this season with players that are worse than him and expected to drive his line.

I’m not sure how many people are signing up to take on a 15 minute/night defenseman at 2.75M this season and next. Theres a high probability Nashville needs to retain Schenn’s salary or take salary back to get a positive asset in return. Nashville also only has 1 retention slot left this season (unless a ruling has been made on RyJo that I’m not aware of). They’d get better return on that retention if they used it on Nyquist and it wouldn’t carry over to next season.

These aren't promising young prospects, these are established vets. No chance we get them for pennies from Nashville.

Maybe I’m undervaluing a 30 year old 4C with more GP in the AHL than NHL last year and a 35 year old 15 minute/night 6D making 2.75M this year and next.

Was just trying to make a joke that instead of giving away vets like these for cheap, they prefer to give away young potential prospects. Maybe not my best work lol

Max Domi is not garbage, Max Domi is a winger that up until last game was being forced to play 3rd line center, because the Leafs don't have a 3rd line center.

Get a 3rd line center and move Domi back to his natural position at wing and he will be more effective.

I definitely have no problem dumping Jankowski to anybody who would take him, or trading Schenn for a draft pick.

But I don't really want the contract dumps coming back. I may not be familiar enough with Timmins and Benoit, however - the Preds do need some size on the back end, especially if Schenn is leaving, but I'm not sure these guys have the skating that we also need? Taking the Domi contract dump is definitely a non-starter.

If Trotz was willing to trade Schenn (which I am doubtful he would be), then I think he could find a taker for just the draft pick, without needing to take any Cap dumps back. :dunno:
