Negotiations with Marner started before Lou's arrival.
While no one has said whether Lou agreed with the contract or not (of course they wouldn't say so), it's been fairly well understood and reported Lou kinda just walked in and signed his name, instead of upending everything.

He didn't put say into that contract.
