Why do I feel like there is gonna be a TOR - SJ trade at the deadline again?

Makes sense and looks solid . Enroth is a decent backup nothing more though. He's pretty small for a goalie and it shows at times as well but he competes well too which can make up for it.

The Jared Cowen situation has been holding things up for the Leafs.

I hope this is a sign that they can buy out Cowen.

Could have also hinged on what the outcome with Vesey was going to be. With that domino falling there is going to be a minor flurry of activity (depth signings/ pto's) from quite a few teams. I unfortunately see the Cowan situation dragging on through training camp.

Would have preferred more than a year. It's not like we have anyone knocking at the door prospect wise. Good value.

As a Sharks fan, how the hell didn't we at least match that?

Who are the Sharks playing at backup this season? Stalock was hot garbage for you guys and Reimer moved on.
This is a decent move, IMHO Enroth probably plays more games in Toronto this season as Andy has never been the most healthy guy in the league and there are like no real expectations save for not placing dead last this year in TO.

I don't think he's as good as many people seem to think he is, but it's a fair signing none the less.

We were hoping for Enroth unless he asked for too much money. This is not too much money for us.

Right now we will roll with Dell until the deadline. If Dell can't do it, we make a trade at the deadline

Solid backup for a solid backup price. Can't fault that.

Also, what happened with Stalock? I thought that he was the next coming for the Sharks 2 seasons ago, and now he's traded as a throw in on a package deal, then released at the end of the season.

Solid, SOLID back up, give him a try and if he can take some pressure off Freddy, sign him up! We got him cheap, I'd be ok with giving him a little payday in the future of 2m.

I thought we needed to sign him for two years so that we could expose him in the expansion draft. Is it likely now we only protect 8 skaters plus 1 goalie versus the 7-3-1?

Good signing regardless!

He probably wanted more money.

I think it could be related to the subject Funk21 touched. Some players may be wanting only an 1 year contract to that they can choose their own way in a year. As Enroth sure wouldn´t get an NMC. If he has an good year and no injuries he could probably cash in next year. And that with 2 more goalie positions in the leauge. And Enroth seems to be the kind of guy that thrives under an personal challenge, so great news for Maple Leafs.

They were most likely waiting to see what happened with Vesey, if they signed him then they would have had to wait until spring training because of cap issues. Thats my guess.

Doubtful, Vesey would have just bumped some other ~925k forward off the 23 man roster(or someone over that who gets 925k deducted off the cap by going to the minors, see Greening, Michalek, etc), and thus no real change in the cap hits.

Enroth just bumps Sparks from the 23 man roster and again no real change in the cap hits.
