1 won in 20 years for your team, doesn’t make your post the gotcha you think it is. Especially with the last wins for Senators had them a goal short of finals in double OT.

Congrats, the Sens were a good team a decade ago. Keep talking about it in every thread or we might forget.

Back in your day, current Shark Karlsson was the captain of the Sens leading the way.

Oh, just 6 years ago? You talk like it was last season.

The Sens current captain wasn’t even drafted and was playing in the USHL when it happened that’s how long ago it was… yet you’re bragging about it.

So Leafs fans with this amount what needs to be done before the season starts?

Buy out Murray, Muzzin LTIR, what else? Any trades or just cap moves?

Ya and that 6 years ago, is more than your last 20, so there is that.

You're correct - my apologies. I'm getting multiple threads crossed. I plead old geezer brain.

Since you did bring up Karlsson, we have been talking about it in our team boards because Karlsson has admitted he spoke with Toronto.

I don't see how it works unless you got double retention down to about 4 million and Brodie was part of the deal as a salary and then you would have to figure out the actual trade package because Brodie would just be a contract.

I really don’t think saying if we go back to 6 years ago it’s the last time the Sens won more playoff games than the Leafs is the flex you think it is.

Mark Stone has since won a cup with another team, Karlsson is now on the Sharks.

196… wait when was the Sens last Cup?

Which city has had the longer SC drought? Well we all know the answer to that but if you think non-existence is superior to a championship drought well I guess Ottawa has done better in baseball and basketball too. Gotcha on the Grey Cup though. Congratulations Ottawa on never having an NBA team an MLB team and not having an NHL team for 65 years and then not winning a Stanley Cup for 31 years after that. You're the tops!!!

Weird fact, the leafs have never won more than 2 playoff series in their long history. In fact the have won 11 playoffs games in a season once and 10 playoff games in a season once, every other season is 9 or less.

Sens fans aren't actually chirping the Leafs, are they? The world doesn't even know Ottawa exists, let alone the capital.
Back to obscurity...
The only city in the world that cares about Toronto is Toronto. Canadian media just loves to shove it down the rest of our throats.

Both teams have the same amount of SC wins since the league had more than 6 teams.

I don’t disagree with that.
But I think what the team is hoping is that they have a good enough defensive system in place to hide that a bit like they did with Bunting and Holl.
Outside of their 4 highly paid forwards and Rielly they struggled with offensive depth last season.

Will it work? Who knows, they will just have to play the games to find out.
Thanks for your honesty.

A rare sight on these Boards...

I'm curious to see what gymnastics they'll go through to get cap compliant.

With Muzzin on LTIR (which he's already on to respect the 10% over the cap that they have to respect in the off-season), it leaves them $6,756,450 over the cap.

Buying out Murray will save them $4M.

Choosing that option leaves them $2,756,450 over the cap.

If his medical situation justifies it, they could save another $687,500 by choosing that option.

That would leave them $2,068,950 over the cap with a 22-player roster.

They could go to a 20-player roster by waiving/burying Timmins and Lafferty, which would put them $81,050 under the cap.

But if they're forced to buy out Murray (if his health is good enough for them not to be allowed to use LTIR), they would be $606,450 over the cap with a 20-player roster...

What to do, what to do ???

Mod reminder: this is a discussion thread about the Samsonov contract, which can include cap implications.

This thread is Not a pissing contest forum for fans arguing whose team is better or worse.
