Yeah yeah yeah, just like he was surely going to leave Toronto next summer. He’s just waiting 4 more years for the coyotes to have a staduim + talent around him…. Then he goes to Arizona.

He’ll have a year left and will be asking for the most money in the league.
If Arizona had a staduim he’d be gone for sureYeah yeah yeah, just like he was surely going to leave Toronto next summer.
This is the right money .dubas gave too much for short term .
Drai and McDavid probably re sign for 13.5 x 8Draisaitl has probably already sent him a text and thanking him for raising the yearly cash for superstars... Drai will hit the 14+ mark next and then McDavid after that will hit the 15+
I dont think so, I would guess the cap the next 4 years goes roughly ~87M, ~90M, ~93M, ~96M... So then he's a UFA at $99-100M.
But either way whether it's $95M or $105M he's getting the bag in 4 years.
He might honestly be the first guy to get a $20M aav.
Yes, Toronto really gets bent having our elite top line centreman signed for the next 5 years in the middle of his prime. All cash up front and NMC clause I assume? Leafs get bent.

Yeah, my original post was about all the people who tried to convince themselves and others over the last several years that he'd walk out on Toronto next summer. It's not about leaving Toronto, it's about maxing career earnings under a rising cap and maintaining the flexibility to do so. Whether that's in Toronto or not.
Great jobYes, Toronto really gets bent having our elite top line centreman signed for the next 5 years in the middle of his prime.
Having him coming back and not leaving is a win already.
Let’s see if his wrist can hold up until he’s 30 let alone mid 30’sAnyone trying to defend only giving Matthews 4 years is out to lunch. Matthews is going to be an elite player well into his mid to late 30s. Not being able to get him long-term at this AAV is horrible for the Leafs.
Your anecdote rebuttal to that post is here are the three best players of the entire generation who also happened to age well? That's not usually the case. Toews had massive health issues. What about Crosby? Or Malkin? Or Ovechkin? Not worth the money at 34?
Let’s see if his wrist can hold up until he’s 30 let alone mid 30’s
Love it. All leafs fans “8 years guaranteed, book it”
4 short years and he’ll be coming home.

I don't think drai is going to look to be paid more. I really think he will want 12-13. Him and McDavid are team players.Draisaitl has probably already sent him a text and thanking him for raising the yearly cash for superstars...
