Barring a major win streak before the deadline, I would do this, knowing that the Leafs don't have the space to resign him. Then we can resign him in the offseason.

Nope , Chiasson can’t play 4th line centre for a playoff run and he could be signed as a ufa in July if we wanted him and not have to give up a marlies prospect that could an inexpensive asset to the team in the near future

I’d have more interest in adding Connor Brown.

Chiasson + 3rd

Brown

Leafs gain cap space moving forward without losing depth upfront. Add a pick due to Brown having term.

The Leafs are extremely thin on NHL caliber forward prospects right now. Bracco is one of the only guys they have in the pipes with a legitimate shot at being a point producer in the NHL. They're gonna need him so I'd pass on this proposal personally because Chiasson doesn't really add anything to our roster that we need.

Bingo.

Leafs can't trade for a forward without some salary going back

Chiasson for Bracco

Leafs get more playoff experience and some size.

Edmonton gets a young cheap option to play in the bottom six.

Flame Away

Chiasson was almost playing himself out of the NHL until, this season. The guy got a 1 year at league minimum . He has been set up for success playing top 6 and getting pp time with great forwards. Any less help playing with lesser players and he will deflate like a birthday balloon the day after the party. If he was a better player he would really be padding the stat sheet much like a PA Parenteau did when the Isles picked him out of the dumpster and put him in the top 6 and first pp. I would avoid him like a 2 dollar hooker . He will no doubt get a 2 year contract offer from some team based on this season.

I’d wager they can. Chiasson has a league minimum deal and with 27 games left or whatever his cap hit is something like 200k.

That said, I’ve long thought a deal involving Kassian for Brown made sense, but if Chiasson turns your crank more why not.

So Chiasson for brown + 4th?

Chiasson started the season on the fourth line and worked his way up. He hasn't been set up. His goal scoring % is definitely ballooned but it's not because he's been playing with McDavid or on the PP. He did that all on his own. His first PP point/ goal didn't come until Nov. 18th. That was his 8th goal of the season. Absolutely been a bright spot on the Oil this season.

I'd no doubt be a little nervous signing the guy next season because of this year's success, but the guy will deserve what he's got coming to him.

No worries man, I don't expect non Oilers fans to know 100% everything about our team. Chiasson has worked his butt off this year and deserves any credit ppl throw his way.

Bracco may never be a consistent NHLer but Chiasson doesn't move the needle in any way. So the chance on Bracco would be worth more I would think. You know what Chiasson can do and it's not much.
