Proposal: TOR-EDM, TOR-LAK

In the playoffs, which is where the Stanley Cup is won, Walman was 5th among Oilers D in TOI/GP. He did play over 20:10 per night but your 5th defenseman will do that when OT isn't capped at 5 minutes.
You’re dodging the questions because you don’t like the answers. 20 minutes is firmly 2nd pairing deployment. There’s a reason you’d trade McMann for Walman and it’s because you’re keenly aware that it’s a huge win for your team. I’d be happy trading a 29 year old third liner for a 29 year old top four defenceman too.

If it's 2nd pairing deployment, why are 4 guys playing more than him?

Do I think Toronto gets the better player? Absolutely. Do I think this trade boils down to the ability of the players in a vacuum? Absolutely not. The Oilers are very deep at 1 position and very thin at another. They also need to move out cap space. This subtracts from their strength while adding to their weakness while also clearing 2M in cap.

Because good teams have defensive depth and Walman was the new guy meshing with new teammates. I already explained this.

Do you know how many LW’s there are? Left shots outnumber right shots roughly 7:3 at the NHL level. Left shot left wings are the most common position by far and the easiest to find. McMann isn’t the unicorn you’re trying to make him out to be.

“Do I think Toronto gets the better player? Absolutely!” Then we are done here. Pretty simple. There are way more routes to go down to clear cap space than selling low on Walman for absolutely no reason. Knies for Walman+, or McMann for Nurse 2 million retained, or there’s nothing more to discuss.

Kings fan's undervalue Moore. He's better and more impactful than a 34 year old OEL.

Even if we lose Gavrikov, Edmundson is already our 3rd pair LHD. OEL can't fill the 2nd/1st pair LHD we need.

If Trevor Moore has to be traded, it will likely be for cap space.
THIS.

All day long - OEL at 34 is not the answer. He was a buyout from Vancouver, his best days are behind him and we already have 2 LHD that play 3rd pair in Edmunson and Moverare. OEL is not an upgrade at all, as nice as one would be. Not to mention, Trevor Moore is worth more than OEL straight across. The number of fans saying they'd do it must be just willing to turf Moore regardless.
