To TOR: Walman
To EDM: McMann
To TOR: Moore
To LAK: OEL
EDM/TOR: McMann and Walman are both pending UFAs. Edmonton has 4 NHL LD making a total of 21.4M. This is by far their deepest position. McMann is a big body, shoot first winger who has averaged 22G/82GP since he became a full time NHLer while splitting time between Tavares and Domi as his C. He has the speed to keep up with McDavid and would fit nicely at 1LW allowing RNH or Hyman to play with Draisaitl. Edmonton is also his local team (although 200KM away) and he probably re-signs there. Walman brings some youth to Toronto's back end and is probably a better player than OEL today. He also provides some flexibility on defense as his contract expires next summer.
LAK/TOR: LAK seem poised to lose Gavrikov and will have a few holes to fill in their defense. OEL helps fill 2LD for the time being. He was great in Toronto this season playing over 21 minutes/game this year and winning his minutes. He can help bridge the gap in LA. Moore can play 3LW with Tavares and brings a more well rounded scoring game than McMann (who is very shoot first). He also takes minutes on the PK where the Leafs are about to lose all of Kampf, Jarnkrok, Lorentz and Marner.
The overall rationale for both trades (from a Leafs POV) is I believe McMann likely walks after this season and the Leafs shift their long-term money from defense (OEL 3 years remaining) to offense (Moore 3 years remaining). The Leafs have 7 defenders signed for the 26-27 season and only 4 forwards, one of them being Kampf who is likely out. The Leafs also take on a total of 2.75M for 2025/26 in these two trades.
