JVR maybe a better offensive player but also sucks nuts defensively, soft and is not a good example of effort for the group as a whole.

Kane has some off ice issues, all around decent player, strong, gritty and will protect the kids.

Pros and cons for both

Lou would never trade for a player with Kane's character. Regardless of talent or what they added to entice him. Wouldn't take him for free I bet to be honest. He's a good player for sure but goes against everything Lou stands for in terms of being a professional and conducting himself that way on and off the ice. My opinion anyway

beside the fact that Kane is the exact opposite type of personality lou/shanny/babs would covet, i cant see the leafs trading JVR for a winger. it is just shuffling deck chairs at best.

All these people still buying into the Evander Kane hype.

He has tons of talent but has never realized it and is unlikely to at this point in his career. JVR has been far more productive than him on the ice over the past few years, has the better contract, less injury issues and zero issues in the locker room and off the ice.

He is literally superior in every possible way except "what if Kane grew up...?"

Not remotely true.

Would love to get rid of Kane, have no interest in JVR coming back. How about just Kane to the Leafs for free?

I'm not a big JVR fan and would trade him in a heartbeat, but he has value, if we trade him I'd expect a decent return and one that fits our needs. This trade does neither. Also don't really want any part of Kane.

Don't want that headcase anywhere near our team. He works hard, but constantly creates stupid distractions.

While he's a good possession player, he can never find chemistry with anyone because he's a one trick pony.

Yeah. Pfft, who on earth wants a 30 goal scorer. Especially one signed for just over $4mil, who's contract expires exactly when we need to pay Jack and Sam....
