WHAT? No thank you from a Leafs perspective. No interest at all.

Ok, so what are the Sabres adding? Kane would have negative value to the Leafs.

Right? Unless the add was equal to JVR I doubt we do it. Kane under Babcock and Lou is a Kane who watches games from the box.

Leafs will pass for off-ice reasons, Sabres for on-ice reasons

Lol
If you're suggesting Kane is the better player on the ice- when he's not injured of course- you're wrong.

JVR better scoring, Kane a higher end motor. That's about it.

We haven't seen that JVR this year so far.

JVR is obviously pretty rusty coming back from injury, definitely looking a step behind a few nights this year, but is still scoring at .636pts/game pace (52 pts over 82 games).

Kane has topped that pts/game mark twice in his career, but not since 12/13.

So yeah, JVR is a better scorer.

And yet he's still on pace for 29.8 goal this season. Basically the exact rate he's scored at for five straight seasons now. JVR producing is the least of my worries on this team.

Kane has a skillset nobody else on the team does. One dimensional player like JVR does not fit the team Buffalo is building.

I think Sabres fans are being a little stuck in the mud on this one.

JVR has the higher end skills we need. Kane's motor is fabulous, but he couples it with no hockey smarts and minimal finish. His game is shoot 50x from outside the hash marks, which will result in clearing the zone 15x, hitting the goalie's chest 20x, hitting the defender's shin guards 10x, and scoring or creating a great rebound chance 5x.

We're showing in his absence that we do not have trouble gaining the zone, forechecking, and creating pressure. The skill set we need more than Kane's brilliance in that department is patience, vision, and finish.

And Colton Orr has a skillset that nobody else on the Leafs has. I'd still give him up for a superior player if he were still on the team, especially if he happened to be such a terrible off-ice presence

JVR is better everywhere. On the ice, off the ice etc.

7+ years in the league and the lockout season is Kanes only injury free year.

Now add in cap hits, the fact Kane hasn't even broken 50 points going on 5 years now and it's not even close. Buffalo would have to add something massive for the Leafs to even consider this deal.

cancer defensively vs cancer personality

JVR likely only gets dealt for defensive help. I can't imagine any of Shanny, Babcock, or Lou wanted to go anywhere near a player like Kane.

While I agree that Kane for JVR is not even close for Toronto. Saying Kane is cancer defensively is probably about the most wrong thing you could say and shows your lack of knowledge about the player. His defense is one of his best attributes.

He's saying that about JVR, obviously.

Positive possession player in every season since the Thrashers moved to Winnipeg. Hell of a lot more than I can say for JVR.

The poster you originally quoted was saying JVR is a cancer defensively, not Kane. That's what you have backwards.
