Confirmed Trade: [TOR/BOS] Brandon Carlo (15% retained) for Fraser Minten, cond. 2026 1st round pick (top 5 protected), 2025 4th round pick

Carlo will be good for the Leafs in the playoffs, it's just he has the Hal Gill syndrome, he plays a bunch against creative/skilled players so when he f***s up, those instances are noticeable and memorable. It isn't too bad if he's your 4th 'best' D, it's just he's a very, very limited player in terms of what he brings. This is Bouwmeester without hands or a brain, that was always another guy I thought of watching him.

Minten will make this look "bad", I think, but also Bruins fans go nuts over a player like this because the organization's been so thin at forward prospects that a reasonably skilled kid seems exceptional. Leafs could afford to lose him.

i didn’t watch much Boston this year but Carlo looks like he’s having a tough go this year analytically.

I dunno what his analytics are but other than his first game against Colorado where everything was a whirlwind he’s been outstanding for the Leafs. He’s exactly what the Leafs needed. I think he’s going to be super valuable in the playoffs. I keep reading comments from Bruins fans about how he makes these big glaring mistakes but I haven’t noticed any. Sure you give up chances every game but there hasn’t been a time where I said “WTF is Carlo doing!” He’s a very steady, big, tough guy who blocks a lot of shots. I love him

I said this in another thread a few weeks ago but even though he still has 2-3 years left on his deal he is a big priority to extend. He’ll only be 31 at that time. Around the same age when we got McCabe

Minton looks very mature for his age I think he surprises everyone next year.

It was a joy to watch Minten as a Blades season ticket holder. Dude is a possession and cycle beast at the Junior level, he was the best player on the Blades.

I liked him better than Cowan, I truly believe Minten was the Leafs best prospect. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the Bruins best prospect though I haven't watched enough of Lysell lately to know for sure.

Minten will always be effective even if he's not productive. I think he'll surprise a lot of folks and become a 40pt NHL middle 6er.

We dont care about that guy, hes a jerk drafted by a jerk franchise. Fraser Minten gets a pass since hes a good kid, drafted by a stand-up franchise.:sarcasm::naughty:

I'm curious who Boston fans think is better, Minten or Poitras?
Poitras for sure. Higher production at every level. Minten has a higher floor but Poitras has the ability to drive offense and make plays that Minten has never really shown and that's what Boston was severely lacking this season.

I didn’t say it would? I just said “Marner likely gone”… Do you live in world formed by absolution and a lack of comprehension, or are Leafs fans just this dense and butthurt at the concept that he hasn’t yet signed and the chances that he may not after they literally tried to trade Marner last month makes that more likely? Hahaha my god
Likely is a predictive word. You would have been way better off and sound objective if you had used the word possibly.

The way you stated it is in the form of hater and you lost all credibility.

If anything it is more likely he signs than he doesn’t.

The Leafs have more than enough room to sign him for around 13, Tavares around 7 and Knies to a bridge of 5 and still leaves about 3 mil left over with no one of any significance to resign.

The team is set to role it back and actually have more cap room than they had this year

I'm not suggesting that Marner will leave the Maple Leafs, but if he does, it's not very clear what Toronto would, or could, do with that sudden influx of cash.

If you remove Marner and Tavares from the upcoming free agent class, you will find there really aren't a lot of "big ticket" items left.

It's like Boeser, Bennet and Ehlers up front, Ekblad on D and not a lot else that is very intriguing.

The Maple Leafs' cupboards are pretty bare in terms of tradable assets to bring in a piece to fill that void.

I suspect if Marner leaves, the Maple Leafs might hang on to the cap space for a bit.

So you think they would sit on their ass and do nothing.

I don't what the move would be because it's only April.

But I Guarantee they wouldn't sit on their ass and do nothing
