Tavares is on another level then Schenn and Tavares is signing his deal in the new cap era. It’s not close. Tavares is easily worth 7x3 and that’s a tradeable asset not some kind of weight.

Now is it a true hometown discount? Not really. I’d obviously hope to sign him for less. But it’s one thing to try to leverage him to take less than he deserves vs saying he doesn’t deserve this. He does. And to suggest otherwise is ridiculous when you look at comparables.
