I took my wife to a concert beginning of September. When we got there went and got 2 drinks, a Molson and a smirnoff. I handed over a 50 and got handed back a 20. I was in disbelief. It's a problem everywhere
Crescent a that happened to me too. My jaw dropped

How many fans at leaf games are either

1. Using a corporate credit card so don't care
2. Have so much money already they dont give a f***

Most companies wont allow you to expense booze unless you got a Sales job and/or you get a food receipt.

You can also not give a f*** and have no money :P

why? fans are willing to pay the current price. so they don't believe it's overpriced. don't buy it if you think it's overpriced you'll see the price drop pretty quickly if everyone followed suit.
That's a good theory but people, especially the corporate, who write it off, don't care and will support it

That's not true at all.

Well if Jerry said it isn't :dunno:
Seriously I know it isn't everyone but I know a couple people that do it. Take clients to the game and wine and dine them and write off as much as they can.
One way or another it happens to one degree or the other

Money still needs to come from somewhere. Not many have unlimited budgets. Companies monitor this stuff very closely and care very much.
I expense everything but it still comes out of my pocket. It just helps lower how much money my company pays in taxes.

Yeah companies can only deduct 50% of meals and entertainment expenses

If they have 100 in booze spent on a business trip they can claim 50 on their taxes as a deductible expense to reduce their income for tax purposes and have lower taxes liability as a result

Some people/companies may abuse this if there are poor controls in place. Varies company to company.

Your absolutley right though that in the grand view, these trips/entertainment expenses work only when the company is doing well and operating profitably or expected to make large profits over a period

During recessions/tight times these expenses are reduced quickly along with payroll (unfortunately, people lose jobs via massive layoffs(

I agree completely, but it still happens and some companies still don't have issues with it
