Top 50 NHL-affiliated prospects, as ranked by TSN's Craig Button

Now I’m second guessing myself
I looked quickly at the 94-95 and 95-96 thn yearbooks and couldn’t see anything

But when you look at koivus last season before the nhl (74pts in 45 games with tps turku) leading liiga by almost 20 points

I do remember seeing somewhere as being heralded as the best player outside of the nhl. May not be able to find it now unfortunately
Yeah, I remember something like that too. I know the fan base was very very excited about him coming across the pond to play in North America

Context is everything. Leonard and Perreault weren't #1OA picks, they weren't close to being #1OA picks, nobody argued they should be. Hagens is being judged and argued about in the context of who should be the #1OA pick this year.
I mean, the discussion is literally about whether Leonard is the best drafted prospect outside the NHL. That’s pretty close to being a 1OA, especially in a year without some generational caliber of prospect.

OK but Leonard is rated that highly for reasons that are more than just offensive stats. So when pointing out that his stats are the same as Hagens and Perreault it misses the point that he's that high because he is/might be an old school power forward.
There's also a bunch of players not on this, or any other prospect, list because they're already in the NHL. Which is where #1OA picks should be playing (by at least their D+2 season).
Where would Bedard, Carlsson, Fantilli, Smith, Michkov and Benson be on this list?
If they were all playing NCAA right now what would their stats look like?
