Proposal: Top 4 RHD to St. Louis in the offseason

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

Preferably a physical, shut down RHD who excels at PK.

Available in return:

2025 1st
Otto Stenberg
Aleksanteri Kaskimaki
Juraj Pekarcik
Jakub Stancl
Adam Jecho
Ondrej Kos

Depending on the return:

Theo Lindstein
Adam Jiricek
Lukas Fischer

I wouldn't call him a top 4 D yet but Vancouver's Mancini is a big smooth skating rhd that could be had assuming Willander steps up next year as we have Myers, Willander and Hronek all on the right side now and desperately need help down the middle.......

I get why you're posting this, but unfortunately, I think Faulk probably stays next year. And with colton Parayko and the emergence of some of our depth guys like tucker, I don't think this particular player is a massive need, more of a luxury/ put over the top going for it type, which is fine, but imo, not the biggest need in the world if we have parayko, faulk, and the other lefties we currently have for next year.

For me, Lindstein, Stenberg and Jiricek should off the table in this type of deal.

If somebody wants Faulk and 1st + Pekarcik/ Fischer for a player that's a clear and large upgrade on a good contract then sure, i'm in. Not sure who that'd be tho. Rasmus Andersson would be nice, but would he really be worth all that? I don't know him well enough to answer that question.

But otherwise, I don't see us doing anything like this for a luxury item personally.

I'm all for going for it though, but most importantly, we need to set ourselves up for success in the Steen Era 2026-2027 and beyond. I do not want to mortgage any of that future for help now, minus tertiary mid level pieces etc...

Top 4 shutdown RD is a pretty rare position there’s not too many of them available. Maybe Connor Murphy. Or Pulock would be the best one but not sure if he would be available. Might have to go lower tier and look at a Savard type.

I don’t see the benefit of adding a shutdown guy. Now if you’re talking about a guy who can move the puck and doesn’t need sheltered I could get behind it.

I don’t think Faulk has been a net negative though. I’d rather run with him until his contract expires and then swing big that offseason on a RHD, unless it’s a younger guy who can grow into a role here and play on the 3rd pair while growing.

if calgary decides to retool/rebuild then weegar or andersson

ristolainen is probably available...but yeah

maybe marino if utah thinks kesselring can jump up into the top 4

probably better off targeting pionk/fabbro in fa

It’s not that those assets you listed are bad but I don’t think there’s a realistic option on the market unless you want to get someone on the older side that may start to decline soon. A good two-way RHD in his prime is almost impossible to find and a lot of teams are looking for one

even in a retool/rebuild Weegar won't be the one available. Andersson it depends on what he's asking for with his next deal. Not sure Calgary is willing to sign another soon to be 30 year old to a 9M contract even if he is a heart and soul player

fair, not going to pretend to be an expert there only brought up weegar because there was talk last offseason that calgary was listening to offers for him. Things change in a year

There isn't really a need for such a piece.

A short term solution to plug a perceived (even that is questionable) hole, is simply the wrong direction for the organization.

Probably time to close this thread.

This post makes no sense....are you saying you want to trade Faulk as well? Who is this new top 4 RHD replacing, if not Faulk?

I think stl could trade Parayko, trade Faulk, or trade Tucker, or none and still look to add to rhd. There’s two reasons: one - I think we could just look for a depth move. Right now Nick Leddy, notably left handed, is our top pairing right handed defenseman. This happens after 1 injury. 2 injuries would be wild.

And 2 - Turnover is coming and I think the blues will probably try to get in front of some of it. In the next 72m Faulk, Krug, Leddy, and Fowler expire, then Parayko expires the following year. If you check out Puckpedia it’s two rough offseasons in a row if the situation isn’t addressed. Some of those guys prob go to term and maybe some are traded prior to that point.

Will be interesting to see what path they take, whether they do something long term that also solves a short term problem or whether they just bolster their existing group.
