False, he played last game, also new coach and staff. He played good in the top 4 when asked to do so for the Leafs last year. He needs to find consistentcy. But giving away a 25 year old rhd is dumb. He's a top 6 dman at worst in the nhl.

He's scratched again tomorrow.

trouba & vesey for shea weber & a 3rd. utah gains a menacing defender, rags have someone already to replace trouba, will be able to accrue cap space and can put weber on ltir at the deadline to add 7m in playoff mercenaries. utah doesn't have weber on ltir, so it adds about 2m to the cap, leaving 6m in space. would still be near 30m in space at deadline.

Trouba won't waive his No Trade Clause and Utah does not want Vesey.

He really needs a change of scenery. I still think most Leaf fans are holding out hope he finds a groove here; but he almost seems destined to become another Gunnarsson somewhere else (with that sneaky potential of a higher ceiling).

I get PTSD thinking about all the guys the Leafs abandoned too early

And?

Does that discount his great play last year?
Even if he's a 6/7 rn for the Leafs, he's still more valuable to us then giving him away for picks. He could be in the top 4 given injury or if he plays great.

What kind of return are you expecting?

Yes, in a way it does discount his "great play" last year. Healthy scratches generally dont command a lot in a trade.

Maybe TML keep him in the press box all year rather than trade him for a small return. That too can be true.

why would you trade value for an injury replacement? just call someone up, injuries are good for you anyway since it boosts your picks. if you think you're gonna make the playoffs you can have your GM trade us your 1st for mike matheson :)

No one of quality to recall. We are trying to take the next step, not collect more picks. We already have too many picks and prospects.

If Penguins are out around deadline. Karlsson possibly would be interested in waiving his NMC.

Hes at a 10 million dollar cap hit. If we retain what type of offer would Utah give?

He can be good last year and still not play as much this year. The leafs defense has been quite good this year. He's still only 25. He could be a top 4 dman by years end and I still believe that he could be a top 4 dman on Number of teams.

But yeah if team can get him for a 3rd by all means I think it's a steal.

Who’s better to sign; Shattenkirk or Schultz?
It might be smarter to do the "wait and see" approach here. Marino I read is due back middle of December. If needed, rotate guys from Tucson for a bit and see what we have. I'm sure BA will make a trade to help the team if one presents itself, but I don't think he is gong to panic.

It takes BA 18 months to make a decision, I don't see him making a panic move. Last night they held Boston to one goal with 2 Dmen scoring for Utah. If BA can get a decent SAHD for a second or third without adding much cap hit and if it is a short term contract, then he might do it. No way he is giving up assets for a stop gap.
