Looking for second pair LD or RD, good PK ability and shutdown physicality.

Probably will have to move Barrie or one of the 3rd liners to make money work.

Oilers fans please stop making threads, come back when you are ready to trade McDavid or Drai to round out the roster and not try to haul your garbage to other clubs for talent.

Lindgren fills the bill, but do you have sufficient currency NY would want?
Moving Barrie, etc, is all yours

The problem with Broberg is that Edmonton missed on that pick.
I don't agree.
His game has not fallen SO much since drafted.
Suspect it is more how handled/used, and Oil would not be first team to eff up an asset.

A physical shut down guy would probably be ideal. Klefbom hasn't played since the bubble and sadly is done otherwise he would be a perfect fit.
Again, Lindgren, see my post #4.
Let me know if you guys are serious

Give you a deal on McDonagh

He's actually a great trade target. Veteran 2 LD, PK'er, shutdown, min eater, Cup wnner. Cap wise I don't see it though as you'd have to take Barrie and Foegele to make the money work and I can't imagine you'd be thrilled with that idea.

This is Chiarelli level of stupid! Trade your franchise players for depth.

How about trade one of them for a top blueliner, legit goalie and a winger for starters...Oilers putting their hope on 2 players to carry a flawed roster is insanity...but I guess that's what makes Oilers fans crazy, repeating the same thing and expecting a different result. Both will leave as UFA's and Oilers will get nothing in a couple of years.

The Oilers have tons of assets available including a 1st round pick (2023), P. Broberg and Xavier Bourgault amongst others.

Chiarelli level of stupid accurately describes most of what that poster contributes.

That's a hot take coming from you Gonzo.

Your bias, exaggerated, and largely stupid post history speaks for itself. No further discussion required.

In attempt to get this thread back on track, I’d say an ideal target for the Oil - IF the Pens continue to struggle - would be Brian Dumoulin. Would be perfect partner for Bouch and allow Kulak to slide down to bottom pair with Barrie (who he’s had a bit of chemistry with).

Only potential hang up is NTC.

Then in terms of asking price, I’m thinking a 2nd + prospect? I don’t think Dumo lands a 1st in a draft of this quality, but stranger things have happened.

The guy I want is Chychrum.. however, I wonder if we could somehow swing for Provorov? He's struggling but I'm a big fan personally and I think he'd like our team and excel.

Almost 7 mill... no idea if Philly even wants to unload him

Barrie + Foegele + Bro + 1st

I could not believe the deal we did with Nashville when Edmonton was sitting right there with all the need in the world for exactly 1 Ryan McDonagh and much more attractive assets (nevermind Holland's alleged veteran fascination).

He would have been a nice fit but the Oil had the cap working against them big time.

- Kieth had not yet decided on retirement.
- Puljujarvi and Yamamoto were still big question marks regarding their asking price and whether they would go to arbitration (in hindsight should have parted ways)

I don’t think the Oil could have ever entertained the idea of McDonogh.

Did/does McDonagh have trade protection? Canada is on lots of players no list soo maybe we did due diligence? I have no idea.

I didn't understand the move for Nashville either with Josi and Ekholm on LD.

Any interest in 8 years of Colton Parayko?

Who wouldn't have interest? The cost though would be huge.

Would you retain 50% and eat the Barrie contract to open discussions? There's no Karlsson deal to be had otherwise.

I assume, with another posters comment the OP edited his post. We certainly have assets to target a top 4 guy.
Absolutely. We have to retain and take Barrie and possibly might even take some more money like Foegele to get better picks back.

Can we have Broberg? Come on the Oilers time is now, strike why the iron is hot.
