Name the top-30 players in your favorite team's organization - pro, jrs, college, Europe. Disregard salary or contract status or age or anything other than simply the best 30 hockey players in the organization. Selct who you value most - I selected Hossa becase he's still really good at 36, but I didn't select the 36 year old Rozsival because even though he plays in the NHL, I value young unproven players with potential more than him.

Like this, for the Hawks:

1. Toews (NHL)
2. Kane (NHL)
3. Keith (NHL)
4. Hossa (NHL)
5. Seabrook (NHL)
6. Hjalmarsson (NHL)
7. Saad (NHL)
8. Sharp (NHL)
9. Crawford (NHL)
10. Teravainen (NHL)
11. Shaw (NHL)
12. Kruger (NHL)
13. Oduya (NHL)
14. Bickell (NHL)
15. vanRiemsdyk (NHL)
16. Raanta (NHL)
17. McNeill (AHL)
18. Danault (AHL)
19. Schmaltz (NCAA)
20. Johns (AHL)
21. Pokka (AHL)
22. Hartman (AHL)
23. Smith (NHL)
24. Nordstrom (NHL)
25. Hayden (NCAA)
26. Darling (AHL)
27. Motte (NCAA)
28. Clendening (AHL)
29. Dahlbeck (AHL)
30. Hinostroza (NCAA)

so.. our NHL roster and the 7 best AHLers we have? or are we taking potential into consideration here

Not necessarily. Yes, consider potential too. Naturally the top of the list is going to be NHL players, but then is will probably be a mix of Jrs and AHL and college, etc.

The reason I picked 30 is so that it is more than the NHL roster. I want to see how people value the players in the organization so potential is a definite factor.

Not ranking goalies, as I don't want to unleash the hell that is the debate of Stalock vs. Niemi

Potential weighs in a bit, and Bold indicates players not in the NHL.

Note: I'm not a Scott Hannan/Matt Irwin fan. I am a huge Melkman fan.

Other Notable's missing the list: Cody Ferriero (Unfortunately his career may be over. Would likely be around 30 if healthy), Emil Galimov (Great pick, I just haven't seen him that much), Freddie Hamilton (Whole bunch of meh), Michael Brodzinski (Great Prospect, just not NHL ready anytime soon), Dylan DeMelo and Taylor Fedun (Good AHL players, but since NHL upside plays a part, I will leave them out), Joakim Ryan (Haven't seen too much of him, but looks like a PP specialist when I have).

well I wouldn't say i'm the best for this but i did it anyway and also ended up writing short descriptions to sorta explain my thinking. no sure that helps since it still comes off as arbitrary to me but w/e

1. Crosby (NHL)
2. Malkin (NHL)
3. Letang (NHL) (sorta like fleury that we've seen his highs but he hasn't had nearly the lows. been very solid all year.)
4. Perron (NHL) (came in and has been very impressive. he's described as kovalev like and he can play the goalie well.)
5. Hornqvist (NHL) (net front presence and overall effort player. his skating and skill are deceptive)
6. Maatta (NHL) (was excellent at beginning okay after cancer diagnosis but you can't really blame him)
7. Fleury (NHL) (at least in terms of talent. if it was just from this year he'd be #1)
8. Bennett (NHL) (kid looks good. till perron came around i'd put him at 3-4 in terms of offensive skill/creativity)
9. Ehrhoff (NHL) (not the offensive dynamo you'd expect but solid player all around)
10. Despres (NHL) (has some stretches where he plays very well and justifies the maatta v despres debate but then makes a few bad mistakes in games. doesn't help he has to carry scuderi around)
11. Martin (NHL) (not necessarily bad but disappointing after we got used to him being really solid in all zones for a couple years)
12. Sutter (NHL) (up and down this year. went from his line carrying the team to completely disappearing)
13. Dupuis (he outplayed or at least out efforted kunitz while he was here
14. Kunitz (NHL) (has been underwhelming but can still put up stats apparently)
15. Downie (NHL) (could definitely be higher since he has borderline top 6 offensive abilities. penalties weigh him down, even ones that aren't really his fault)
16. Comeau (NHL) (good up and down the lineup. sorta confusing since i'd rather have him with malkin than say kunitz but i'm not sure he's neccessarily a better player)
17. Pouliot (AHL) (he can be quite dynamic at times. small sample size though)
18. Greiss(NHL) (started with couple very good games then hardly got any for awhile and played mediocre. not really sure what to say)
19. Kapanen (Liiga) (appears to have NHL level ability just needs the strength and to keep his head up)
20. Spaling (NHL) (completely average player but nothing wrong with that. )
21. Goc (NHL) (hasn't gotten much of a chance since he's stuck with adams and sill tbf)
22. Sundqvst (SHL) (looked like he could play a solid bottom 6 role rn and hopefully a future 3rd line center)
23. Harrington (AHL) (fairly solid for awhile but iirc left cold)
24. Scuderi (NHL) (bounceback year. isn't complete garbage)
25. Farnham (AHL) (well ability not so much. he's very good at his job though)
26. Murray (AHL) (won a job in the A. don't really pay attention to the A but iirc he's doing pretty well)
27. Dumoulin (AHL) (i remember him struggling like the other d-prospects but you can see he doesn't have the same upside. will be solid in the end)
28. Bortuzzo (NHL) (i liked him in the past but i'm not sure i have much positive to say. i guess part of his problem is he can get paired with scuderi which works awfully for both. despres and bort together are very physical and i'd like to see more of that i think)
29. Jarry (WHL) (jrs so i dont' know much. goalie fo the future (TM))
30. Megna (AHL) (has the speed and arguably talent just needs to mentally think fast enough for NHL. could still develop or end up an AHL journeyman)

(acrobello is too soon to say imo)

Good lists. I was hoping to get a sense for the non-NHL (even non-AHL) player values. When I did my list of players in the Hawks organization, I could have easily included another 5-10 players and maybe should have done an honorable mention section. Players like Paliotta (NCAA), Calnan (NCAA) Ross (AHL) Press (Swe), Norell (Swe), and Iocapelli (USHL), just to name a few more.
