Hello, here is my mock proposal. I do top-21 since these are the teams we actually know for sure where they draft.

THERE IS A (MOCK) TRADE TO ANNOUNCE, during the draft, Mr. Bettman announces Montreal Canadiens (MON) trades the 16th and 17th picks to Columbus Blue Jackets (CLB) for their picks 14 and 20. MON do this to secure Justin Carbonneau, who they think the Vancouver Canucks (VAN) could grab at 15. CLB do this to secure Joshua Ravensbergen, who they think the Saint Louis Blues (SAI) could choose at 19.

Here we go :

1- NYI : M. Schaefer
2- SAN : M. Misa
3- CHI : P. Martone
4- UTA : C. Desnoyers
5- NAS : J. Hagens
6- PHI : A. Frondell
7- BOS : J. O'Brien
8- SEA : J. Smith
9- BUF : R. Mrtka
10- ANA : B. Martin
11- PIT : K. Aitcheson
12- NYR : R. McQueen
13- DET : V. Eklund
14- MON : J. Carbonneau
15- VAN : B. Cootes
16- CLB : L. Hensler
17- CLB : J. Ravensbergen
18- CAL : L. Lakovic
19- SAI : C. Reid
20- MON : C. Bear
21- OTT : M. Spence

What do y'all think of this? Thank you! :)

I've seen each of SAN (SJS), CAL (CGY), MON (MTL), CLB (CBJ), and NAS (NSH) as team abbreviations, before.
...I don't think I've ever seen St. Louis (STL) shortened to SAI, though

I'm giving you a hard time, but in all honestly, I like the list.
I personally am hesitant to put Ravensburgen so high, but I kind of think you're right that a team will take an early swing at him if they think someone else is eyeing him.

I'm also seemingly still bigger on Hagens than many others, but Desnoyers does seem to be climbing many lists.

Obviously those abbreviations are for fun, SAI being the most fun of all.

Eklund seems rather low
I've seen him mocked all over the place between 4 and 13. He will be ome of the fun names to watch. I can honestly see the teams drafting all these other guys above him, although in my personal preference, he would go higher for sure.

In all honesty, I don't see Carbonneau as the priority for Montreal you are making it out to be. As such they will be happy to select at 16 any of the guys you have listed 14-20 especially Bear. If Columbus on the other hand is so desperate to get Ravensbergen, it would cost them their 26 unprotected 1st for 17th. An exchange of pick positions in this draft does nothing for Montreal. If Vancouver takes Carbonneau the consolation prizes, still available on your list at 17th would be acceptable to Montreal, if Columbus won't bite on a deal. I am not even sure that Montreal would take Carbonneau ahead of Bear if they did make the trade for 14th.

I get what you say, I also have the feeling that the upside of Carbonneau is a nice plan for the top-6, with his size and compete. + He is a local guy, you kind of bet on the possibility that he thrives.

You mean like Drouin? People place way too much emphasis on the home town factor as a material determining factor in Montreal’s personnel decisions.

Or like Danault? Or like Savard? Or like Montembeault? Or like Matheson (last year)? Remember how Hage was stoked to be drafted by MON? Or how Tavares turned down the Isles to play for his home team (money certainly helped)?

Do you honestly believe these players were acquired because they were locals, or because they fit the team needs? Fact is the last time Montreal used a high draft pick on a local, Gainey was the GM, so 4 regimes ago.

Not acquired because, but they were invested in their respective roles and are great ambassadors with the fans.
