I am seeing some recent chatter about the ranking of Sens prospects on another thread, so I thought we could create its own thread and discussion.
I know there are guidelines about what constitutes a prospect in terms of age (under 25) and NHL games played (65gp) but for the sake of this discussion I have graduated Kleven (63gp) but I have listed Ostapchuk (39gp) as I do think he will graduate later this season but there is a chance that he goes back to Belleville when Perron & Gregor return as he does have a two-way contract. I am including Crookshank (25 y/o) and Matinpalo (26 y/o) as I think both players are definitely still 'prospects despite their age and we do have a real shallow pool right now, so everyone that is very borderline gets included as far as I am concerned. Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion if you want to include or exclude.

Here we go:

1. Carter Yakemchuk D
2. Leevi Merilainen G
3. Zack Ostapchuk F
4. Blake Montgomery F
5. Stephen Halliday F
6. Jorian Donovan D
7. Donovan Sebrango D
8. Gabriel Eliasson D
9. Niklas Matinpalo D
10. Max Guennette D
11. Jan Jenik F
12. Cole Reinhardt F
13. Angus Crookshank F
14. Kevin Reidler G
15. Xavier Bourgault F
16. Javon Moore F
17. Mads Soogard G
18. Luke Ellinas F
19. Hoyt Stanley D
20. Tomas Hamara D

I'll do top 10 with some HMs.
Also didn't include some guys that are older although they are formally still prospects by NHL criteria but at this point I think they are what they are (Crookshank, Reinhardt, Jeník, Guénette, *Matinpalo).

1. Yakemchuk - RD, WHL, 19.3 yo
2. Meriläinen - G, NHL/AHL, 22.4
3. Ostapchuk - C/LW, NHL, 21.7
4. Halliday - C/LW, AHL, 22.6
5. Montgomery - LW, OHL, 19.7
6. Donovan - LD, AHL, 20.8
7. Stanley - RD, NCAA, 20
8. Andonovski - LD, OHL, 19.7
9. Moore - LW, USHL, 19.1
10. Ellinas - C/LW, OHL, 18.9

HM:
Sebrango - LD, AHL, 23
Eliasson - LD, OHL, 18.4
Pettersson - RW/C, AHL, 21

*like him alot, might become something

Thanks for making these notes about Ostapchuk, Crookshank and Matinpalo, at least it makes it clear that they are included for the sake of the current discussion, which is not the yearly pool done every summer. So no problem if people want to include them

1. Carter Yakemchuk
2. Blake Montgomery
3. Leevi Merilainen
---------------
4. Stephen Halliday
5. Cole Reinhardt
6. Jan Jenik
7. Donovan Sebrango
8. Gabriel Eliasson
9. Mads Soogard
10. Luke Ellinas
11. Tomas Hamara
12. Javon Moore
13. Eerik Wallenius
14. Maxence Guenette
15. Kevin Reidler
16. Matthew Andonovski
17. Xavier Bourgault
18. Owen Beckner
19. Tyler Boucher
20. Jorian Donovan
21. Philippe Daoust
22. Hoyt Stanley
23. Oskar Pettersson
24. Theo Wallberg
25. Vladimir Nikitin

Really hard to build this ranking

1. Yak
2. Merilainen
3. Montgomery
4. Moore
5. Halliday
6. Reinhart
7. Andonovski
8. Sebrango
9. Stanley
10. Beckner

HM: Eliasson, Jenik

Not counting Crookshank or Matinpalo due to age but I think they could carve out NHL careers.

From the little I've seen Javon Moore has some great tools. Very similar to Montgomery. He's very raw but he's also a year younger than Blake.

We really need to make some hay this year at the draft.

My top 5.

1.Yakemchuk
2.Leevi
3.Montgomery
4.Halliday
5.Sebrango

HM: Abramov (I get a feeling that he gives it another go at the NHL next year as it will be under different management then it was when he left)

I am dumb...

I originally thought you were giving our prospects "D"s and "F"s as a grade.

With that being said, our prospect pool looks thin.

LOL!

It is definitely a pretty shallow pool.
My first five picks were fairly straightforward but after that, it becomes pretty much wide open as to where players might slot.

It is good to see the recent emergence of players like Leevi, Montgomery, Moore, Matinpalo & Sebrango.
Brings us a bit of depth.

The 2024 draft is starting to show signs of life, but it is very thin when it comes to skilled forwards that can play in the top 6.
I think we do get an 'F' in that category. This should be the primary focus going forward into the 2025 draft as well as any signings or trades that we make.
