What do you guys think, is this list accurate to describe the best players of 2020s so far?

These stats are from the seasons 2020-2025 and in addition to almost five full regular season stats include four playoffs (for those who played in all). Sources: nhl.com and naturalstattrick.com

How would you rank these players into different tiers?

Here are the full stats including separate points/ppgs/gp/goal differentials for regular season and playoffs and also 5v5 points during that time frame.

Tage deserves a spot going forward. Early 2020-2021 he hadn't arrived yet. Tied for most ES goals in the league. Plays hurt a lot including last season with a broken wrist.

There has been a clear big 4 offensively of McDavid/Kucherov/Draisaitl/MacKinnon with Makar to complete the top 5 for most of the 2020s. Then you have a Matthews peak every 2-3 seasons and Q. Hughes who’s cementing himself with the 5 names above as a top player in the game.

Then, there’s everyone else.

So you are saying there's only two tiers in that list?

Not necessarily, but to me, McDavid, Kucherov, Draisaitl, MacKinnon and Makar have easily been the top 5 players of the decade with Q. Hughes and Matthews following them. After that, there’s more room for arguments

Yeah I think those four are pretty clear. I'm having hard time categorizing the rest of them into tiers though. So would be interesting to hear thsoe arguments

>3 toronto players

Wow they must be a powerhouse in the playoffs huh

Tier 1
- McDavid
- Kucherov
- MacKinnon
- Draisaitl
- Makar

Tier 2
- Q. Hughes
- Matthews
- Pastrnak

Tier 3
- Kaprizov
- Crosby
- Barkov
- Hedman
- Marner

Tier 4
- Panarin
- Rantanen
- Eichel
- Tkachuk

Tier 5
- Nylander
- Robertson
- Hughes
- Connor

Easy one to agree with when you consider only regular season. I think things get a bit more complicated when you factor in playoff performances.

For example Rantanen has a higher ppg in playoffs than anyone on tier 2 or above.

He also has a higher on ice even strength goal differential than anyone on tier 2 or above in playoffs and in regular season. In the latter stat only MacKinnon has higher GD.

Not sure of Q. Hughes or Hedman as I didnt look up their stats for this.

Kaprizov has had the least amount of scoring talent to play with over the last 5 seasons. Makes you wonder where’d be if his most common linemates weren’t Zuccarello and Hartman

Eichel & Barkov stand out for their productivity while also being elite shutdown Cs. Eichel has also never had a high-powered scoring wing to play with. Stone is awesome but not an elite point producer

Makar stands out because he’s the only defenseman and still flirting with the Top 10.
