I was recently reading the CSB final rankings and noticed that they had asked several prospects questions. I am looking for input as to what you guys think would be the top 10 questions to ask prospects to get a better understanding of their personality, if you were to ask the same 10 questions to everyone?

Appreciate the input

I'd start with "Which do you prefer, vanilla or chocolate ice cream?"

The answer says a lot about the person. :sarcasm:

will you report
is your sister single
will you be a superstar
is your mom single
whats your moms phone number
can you please leave the room so i can interview your mom ?

Wow.. talk about childish answers.. Anyone have any professional questions that you'd liek to see in a prospect report?

Without mentioning mother's and sister's please

well i know when i make the phone calls to the kids i know im scouting for a QMJHL team so my questions are probably a bit different, but the ones we ask are:

1. Are you attending the draft
2. what are your plans for next year
3. Is (instert team name here) a team you would like to play for
4. How is school going for you
5. what are your plans for the summer
6. what are you looking to achive by next year
7. Tell us your strengths and Weakness as a player and what are you doing to strengthen your weaknesses
8. How was your season last year, were you happy with your season, if not then what do you see yourself doing in the off season to correct that, if they are then we ask if they are working harder to improve that much more.

those are the main questions...I know for our scouting staff we have a guy with Chicago Blackhawks, and Boston Bruins on our team and i know the questions they ask guys in the NHL are:

1. so what are your summer plans
2. how is school going
3. do you have any prefrences of teams in the NHL
4. are you open to all teams if they draft you
5. are you willing to work hard this summer to achive what you want
6. what do you do in your spare time
7. how was your season last year, describe it, did you achive what you wanted, do you think you are capable of much more.
8. then just make small chat to get to know the person a bit more.

As my aunt who is an HR rep often told me when I was looking to get my first job out of college...you don't ask the interview questions to hear the perfect answer because most people are telling you what they know you want to hear during an interview and not what their really thinking , you ask the questions to see which candidates are dumb enough to actually give the answers you DON'T want to hear....this can be extremely effective with 18 year olds and to me these questions below are good ones posted by the previous poster because you might get some really telling answers from young kids:

3. do you have any prefrences of teams in the NHL
4. are you open to all teams if they draft you
5. are you willing to work hard this summer to achive what you want
6. what do you do in your spare time

What did Jimmy Page originally intend to name Led Zeppelin?
Who's your favourite member of the E Street Band?
Who's the best character in Mortal Kombat?
Who was the better sidekick on M*A*S*H, Trapper John or B.J?
Who should have been at the top of the Maxim Hot 100 list last year?
In a fight, who would win, Borje Salming or Larry Robinson?
In one game, who would you rather have on your team Bobby Clarke or Phil Esposito?
Who was more integral to the success of their dynasty, Denis Potvin to the Islanders or Paul Coffey to the Oilers?
Who should be the starting goaltender for Canada at the 2010 Olympics?

What does Marcellus Wallace look like?????

lol.

Inglewood Jack is a really tough interviewer.

I found the Phil Esposito book fun reading. He goes into detail how he spent one interview asking questions about another player who he wanted. It is a bit ironic that the player he did this to ended up having a better career then the player he picked
