Well considering guys like Tootoo have carved out pretty solid NHL careers, I dont know if its fair to say Callahan is at best a 14th forward. Callahan is a better player than Tootoo in GR and much more versatile.

I Would be willing to bet at least one of them has a fairly successful NHL career

Depends on your interpretation of fairly successful. Lando will end up with less than 200 NHL games and Cally will end up between the 80-350 game mark. I don't blame Tootoo for being underwhelming down in Grand Rapids, the guy has to be completely demoralized. He puts up 30 points in Nashville then the Wjngs ruin his career.

For the record, I have nothing against Lando and Cally, I've met them a handful of times, they are nice guys. As hockey players, I just don't see NHL success.

Pretty premature, don't you think?

What do you think is more likely, the two having zero call-ups while about to become waiver eligible because the Wings are trying to hide them, or because they aren't that good? Take into account we have more injured players than healthy ones and trying to fight for a playoff spot.

Doesn't make them career AHL'ers, I think they both have bottom 6 upside still.

Sorry Newfy, they haven't been called up because they aren't NHL calibre players. Lando is a career AHL'r and Cally might make it as a 14th forward.

As for the topic at hand, I prefer Tootoo over Bertuzzi. Tootoo creates chances, has decent wheels, hits everything in sight and still has some decent offensive abilities.

Flies in the face of the fact they are pretty good specialist, that is something that has plagued Tootoo in his career.

I don't know what will happen with them, I don't think the idea they are trying to hide them is that off-base, it's pretty interesting they haven't gotten cameos at this point in time.

Expect a big effort from Tootoo, his career prospects really depend on it. Has to make the most of his 6 minutes.

Other teams have scouts and they can scout the Griffins and will have videos of all those games for reference. They aren't hiding a player from another team just b/c they aren't calling them up to play 8 minutes for a game or two in Detroit.

Who was the last player on the Wings who was never called up to play in a game before their ELC expired and became solid regular NHL players? I can't think of one. The Wings clearly don't think that much of Ferraro or Callahan and neither will likely factor in their future plays much beyond 12th or 13th forwards like Emmerton topped out at.

I think its ridiculous that neither player has gotten look. They both add more than Andersson does, but just because of seniority they are stuck in the AHL. Drew Miller? He doesn't bring anything physical and he's more expensive. Cory Emmerton? We already know what we have in him, a small, soft 4th line center. Callahan offers more than Glendening, Andersson or Emmerton. Right now, he could be their Matt Cooke or Andrew Shaw type. At the very least Callahan has shown he can be that type of player.

This is how I feel. Hook never got an NHL game and every team wanted him. In the age of technology, the fact two players who are about o be waiver eligible don't even get a sniff of the NHL, isn't a sign or gamesmanship.

Not sure if this is because the Wings really don't think highly of Ferraro and Callahan...

Or this is just the Wings being their normal super-conservative selves, and going with the known commodity, over the unproven rookie. Even if the rookie may have potential to provide more.

But either way.... it's concerning for the future of Ferraro and Callahan that we have had this many injuries, and neither has been called up once.

Franzen-Legwand-Nyquist
Tatar-Sheahan-Abdelkader
Alfredsson- Emmerton- Pulkkinen
Miller-Glendening-Tootoo

-Bring Gus back up with our best chance of scoring, putting him on the "kid line" is redundant. Franzen at center I haven't liked, almost as if he's thinking too much out there.

-Abbie is outplaying Alfredsson, he deserves the spot on the 2nd more than anyone else. Alfedsson can play his off wing where he has a lethal shot.

-Emmerton is barely better than Glendening but I somehow trust him more on a 3rd line. He's been all right these last games, I remember him with a great PK.

I've enjoyed Bert on the 4th line, he has stood out in a positive way. The lines he's on he helps create pressure. I understand he probably isn't in our future but he still has the ability to makes things happen. Tootoo should be a better replacement and I hope we'll see something good out of Toots.

I do not see what difference it makes. We have like 0,0001% chance to beat the Hawks.

Pretty sure that Nashvilles odds were no better, But yet they managed to beat them in Chicago 3-2 in this league any thing can happen on any given night. Pretty sure that no one gave Detroit a chance when we beat Chicago 6-5 in a shootout at Joe Louis Arena either.

Those are actually great looking lines, To bad that Babs wont do those lines. They would make far to much sense.

Because it would make sense to use Alfredsson on his off wing? Because it would make sense to use Abdelkader on line four? Yeah, Babs is an idiot.

Abdelkader is 3-4th liner, not a top 6 winger.

Justin Abdelkader is a third liner. He's closer to a second liner than a fourth liner as well. He's a solid third liner, and is a serviceable second liner (not saying he's a second liner). He can do more than just hit. His hands are developing, he's strong on the boards, and he can pass the puck well. There's a reason why he got 20 minutes a game this season multiple times, and not just because of injuries.

Drew Miller is a legit fourth liner. Compare him and Abdelkader. Major difference between the two. Abby can possibly max out with a 50 point season. Miller can't.

Lol are you really serious? Abby gets 30 points cause he gets time with nyquist and z for 1/3 of the year or so and you think he has a 50 point ceiling? He would more than likely not score 50 points if he played on z and dats line all year. And just about anyone playing with those two a whole year should be able to pick up 50 unless they are a 4th line plug (cleary) who shouldn't even sniff 3rd line minutes let alone top 3 minutes.

Right it makes more sense to play Abdelkader on the top line because he's a legit 20 to 30 goal guy. Let's get real here Abdelkader is nothing more then a 3rd line grinder at best. Abdelkader has no business being in the top 6 he's not that kind of player he scored 10 goals last season and maybe on par to do that again this year. Playing on the top line. No one said that Abdelkader had to be on the 4th line but he should be no higher then the 3rd line.

Good, Tootoo is better than and should have been up here all year. Holland really ****ed the roster up this year, basically put the worst possible product out there all year long. Hell when even fans can predict terrible decisions before they even occur (Sammy/Cleary), anyway.

On another note: I'd love to know how much money is actually going to be on the ice? It's pretty funny at this point, we are going to straight up have the entire Griffins up here by the time the season comes to a close.
