Game management and inconsistent officiating isn't a conspiracy. It's undeniable fact supported by literally everything and acknowledged by pretty much everybody.
The amusing part is that someone so committed to analytics is also a complete believer in an officiating evaluation that can only ever be supported by opinion rather than fact.

If literally everything and everyone came to believe the Earth was flat or an election was stolen, would you?

It happens too often for it to be just on the players. There has to be a poor communication effect playing a part in this as well.

I know someone said we don't turn the puck over a lot, but some of our too-many-men penalties seem to happen with a turnover being a piece of the puzzle. Other times we have 6 guys literaly in the play... like, what?

We do the centreman out first thing on changes on the fly, but it happens with the D too so it cannot be just that.

I find it riduculous it happens so often, and we have all seen lots more that could have been called.

Come playoff time, PP's are harder to come by, I sure as hell hope we are not doling out free ones with these tmm situations.

There's plenty of analytics looking into game management within the cap era, inconsistency in calls, the predictive nature of penalties, etc. Not to mention past refs admitting it, current refs being caught red handed doing it, and let's not even get into the NHL email leaks from years ago... It's not like it's some big secret, so not sure why you're acing all surprised. It's just an accepted fact of the NHL at this point.

I'm sure you're capable of searching through google. The Athletic did a few articles on it at least, so that would be a good place to start if you're actually interested in learning. There was also a thread about a year ago on the main board discussing game management and showing some analytics from a bunch of different places, if you'd rather stay on-site.

Holy crap, how hard is it for the self-professed King of Analytics to find one easily obtainable and explainable piece of verifiable evidence?

Am I asking for the moon here?

Weren’t the Leafs trailing in the last two games when they were called on it?
For sure all the others would be game management though, that is indisputable 😂

Game management or not, it's a pointless conversation. Ultimately, the refs will always call whatever they call, and it's the team's responsibility to have an effective PP & PK.

I've never professed myself to be the "king of analytics" in any way, and I literally just pointed you in the direction of two different places you can find the information you're seeking. I also pointed you in the direction of multiple other pieces of non-analytical evidence.

That was surprisingly interesting, thanks for that.

Tavares and Rielly seem to be the biggest culprits.
Rielly four times, but some coming off and some going on.

Tavares all four signalling that he is coming off, and then staying on.

As a defenceman, I've done that a few times, but I've always been very loud and clear that I'm staying. I don't think I've ever been the cause of a TMM.
