I am pretty sure he is not the only trump supporter in the nhl, maybe there is a bigger picture? i don't know much about him.
He was the only one to be overly public about it though. 90%+ in the league hold his views, just dont express them publicly. Thats his issue

Yes, he's the NHL's only conservative.
Again 90%+ hold his views. He was just very public about his. This one isnt as complicated as youre trying to make it.

There's a point where players run out of chances. Whether Tony has reached that point I don't know but I looked at his departure from the Rangers as addition by subtraction. He can be a very skilled and creative player but he's a lousy defender.

Anyway to his kerfuffle with Georgiev. It's OT vs. the Penguins DeAngelo under no pressure gives the puck away and seconds later Crosby scores a weak one on Georgiev. Both Tony and Alex made completely shit plays to give a point away. It happens....though sometimes it happens too often. Georgiev going off the ice slumped and dejected and DeAngelo jumps all over his ass about letting in the goal and that's why the fight started. Now Tony's already pissed at the coach because it's early in the season and he's already been scratched a couple times for shit defensive play. Alex was a Jekyll/Hyde from game to game. You might get a great game or you might get a shit game. Personally it's a better Rangers world since we moved on from both of these f'ing knuckleheads. At least we got something back for Alex.
No what happened. Tony ask georgiev wtf he was thinking taking possession away from him by reversing the puck. Georgiev being the baby hes known to be, then blocked punched tony directly to the face. Tony responds as any male would and cracks him right back. In any normal room, it means the players shake hands after. With the rangers who were a total mess and already looking to move tda due to not wanting to pay that kind of money for a 3rd pair dman, it became a great excuse to get rid of him.

Again, once fox took over the pp, tony became expendable. How the rangers handled it and treated him was not viewed too kindly by players around the league

Who's making it complicated?

Others have suggested that either he just stinks or has baggage. That would be the explanation if it were anybody else.

If 90% hold his views, as you suggest, why would he be blackballed?

You know who else is very publicly a Trump doner? James Dolan, one of the owners that fired DeAngelo.

The political thing needs to die on the vine already because evidence has refuted it over and over. This thread just feels like a reason to complain about it again even though you made up what you're complaining about.
