He's a professional athlete. In the public domain. People are going to chirp you. Boomer is an old man in the stands at this point. As an NHL player / employee of the NYR you are held to a higher standard.

Go to work to get better instead of clapping back on your phone, comes off as very whiny and unprofessional. ADA has a lot bigger problems than Boomer giving him crap on twitter.
Oh can it. You can have your opinion but get over it when an overwhelming amount of us think it is a bad opinion. He isn't some government official or elected representative; and last I checked he isn't doing anything illegal or even morally wrong. Get over it.

Let the guy chirp all day, I don't care, just play well and be entertaining.

If I was in D'Angelo's position, I would have probably responded with "Bite me, old man"

It could have been a lot worse
I probably would have just wrote "lol" or something stupid and snarky

He plays sports, he isn't someone your kids are supposed to model themselves after. Some people want to treat these players like they are their personal employees that they can control, it is hilarious

Yeah, you need to do a much better job to clarify the hot take that most of us are scratching our heads over. He's a high ceiling prospect with a half decent floor. He's far from "dime a dozen".
This is HFboards where people give over the top hot takes to get reactions and then back nothing up - it was usually contained to Canadian hockey fans but has spread to other forums as well. I want more people to tell me about how Kreider is a middle 6 player, Zucc doesn't have heart anymore, Andersson and Howden are bottom 6 forward prospects, and Lundqvist must be dying to leave NY...

Tons of scouts say he doesn't have much offensive talent, hell even when he was drafted they said "this guy can be like Jesper Fast" lmao. He was a very "safe" pic, high floor, moderate ceiling. Top 9 center with character. I consider ADA more of a boom/bust prospect, ADA shows flashes of having elite offensive tools, I have never seen that from Andersson
The Jesper Fast comment was immediately disregarded by anyone with a pulse - it was a poor characterization based on Nationality.

Andersson was a safe pick because he was already playing against NHL level men and producing well while also being good at both ends of the ice. When he went against similar competition, but high skill, in the WJC he was amongst the leaders in offensive production. No reason anyone shouldn't expect him to at least be Ryan Callahan but at Center - I would say that is his floor, as in the bare minimum barring injury.

DeAngelo's response to Boomer was extremely classy.

I would have said "I take a shit and a better CF% than Girardi ever had comes out and only 200 year old fans like you still think Girardi was 'solid' and also u suck at footbal."

Better man than me.

Tony definitely took the high road, and showed a lot more maturity than in older tweets.

Pionk is the same age and can't dress himself at the NHL level.

I agree with a lot of your statements, but I don’t know about this one. Aside from Skjei, Pionk is likely the most well rounded defenseman we have on our roster right now at 22.

That being said, I’m digging ADA’s play right now, it seems like he’s settling in nicely.

Pionk has spent the entirety of his short Rangers tenure in his own zone and has one move that has been figured out already - the chip off the boards.

I feel like Girardi is back on the team when he's on the ice.

I`m the only one who want to move DeAngelo? Maybe it`s not a popular opinion, but we need to improve our defensive core with defenders who have size and who are much stronger defensive skillset.

We`ve 50 + SOG back to back games for a reason, and it`s only the defensive system or coaching staff to blame. :)

In AV defense, he has a good W record in this league - Jim mention that too on blueshirts podcast, but AV needs to go before next season.

My brief point is we need at least two libor Hajek on our blueline with about similar size 6.1 or 6.2. ))

To me, your criticism of the kid is a bit harsh, considering all variables like the system he’s in, the players he’s playing with, the scenarios he’s in and the ice time he’s logging. He’s played his first set of career games and at least to me, hasn’t looked out of place in many situations. Although he hasn’t flashed in some ways like DeAngelo or shown speed like Gilmour, Pionk has done quite well for his first 15 NHL games.

Give him some time!

DeAngelo has more value as a ranger than in a trade..

Don’t blame the entire team sucking on 1 person.

If anything pionk has the most fresh trade value of any of the young dmen

DeAngelo don`t have size, and he is a PP specialist similar to Kevin @Vinny DeAngelo - he is a good player for what he brings, but he don`t fit in that defensive core at all in my opinion, and I`m actually surprised if he is part of the rebuild plan in near future, and he is not strong defensive player.

I’d say if anyone, Gilmour is the most tradable (offensive RH D don’t grow on trees and trading Pionk wouldn’t look good on us regarding the NCAA UFA circuit). I’d say keep all of them for now.

Gilmour was dropping applications for a day job, last year. Outside his skating ability he’s not a professional hockey player. Trading him now would bring almost nothing and would probably be selling high

Look at all the other top defensive prospects they’re all strong defensive guys. Having ADA even if it’s just to play on the third pair and run the PP brings something we all know good teams need

I`m not saying DeAngelo is the only reason due to defensive issues, but half of the defensive core are mostly unknown players for most fans outside the NYR Franchise or follow this team closely, and I`m afraid that Libor Hajek is not enough next season to overall strengthen that D-core. And I`m not sure if Marc Staal is here based on his long list of injuries, and he might be bought out.

I'd argue ADA has more elite talent & a higher ceiling than Andersson

I'd argue Andersson is already a better hockey player than DeAngelo and has a higher ceiling than DeAngelo.

I don't even see whats particularly high about DeAngelo's ceiling. He can't defend. How high can your ceiling be when you are a PP specialist defenseman who isn't even doing that well offensively in the NHL?

He's not here to defend. He's here to send pucks towards the opposition net and he's been very good at it this year.

He barely scores either. He's on pace for like 21 points over an 82 game season. He's just not very good, in my opinion.

DeAngelo is 22 - was born in 1995 (October, so a late birthday too) and has played 70 NHL games.

76 players have played his amount of games or more (70+) at his age (22-)

14 total Defensemen have played his amount of games or more at his age.

But yeah, let's go ahead and say we know what he is lol

And if Andersson was drafted by Nashville, Pierre would have compared him to Jarnkrok. The only reason for the comparison, was that they are both Swedish.

And there are busts who start out in the NHL at 18.

So what? He's at an age where its not unreasonable to expect production.

Or, ya know, Defensemen almost always take longer to develop and outside of an especially small handful there are hardly any right now at his age giving high quality on ice results. If you're impatient and upset with DeAngelo right now at his young age then the next couple years are going to be very rough for you lol
