I disagree and think he absolutely could still have played here as his clotting was brought under control. If it was so serious he wouldn't be flying everywhere and he'd be a healthy scratch every game he played against the Avs in Denver.

Unless you have a medical degree, your opinion is pretty much worthless when it comes to the clotting. I'm not going to pretend to be an MD, but I think we can all understand the difference between spending months on end in a high altitude environment and short periods of time in high altitudes.

Regardless, if you think castoff is too harsh, maybe..."former top 6 Avs that had no business being in the top 6".

This makes even less sense. Fleischmann had 21 points in 22 games with Colorado. He had a 23G/51P year (69GP) in Washington the year before that and followed it up with a 27G/61P season in Florida the next year. That was Flash's peak period, and he was an excellent top 6 forward at that point.

Maybe I used poor word choice. Entirely probable. Flash was a good player. He has no business being the top 6 now. Just like Chris Stewart doesn't. Just like David Jones doesn't.

You're being entirely too literal. Chris Stewart had a dominating year with Paul Stastny as his center. He belonged in the top 6 then. He certainly doesn't now.

If Flash was in danger of playing hockey, he wouldn't be. Plain and simple. His condition has been under control and by all accounts he absolutely could stay in Colorado. The altitude here is incredibly overstated as far as the effects it has.

I made a joke about the Wild going dumpster diving in the "former top 6 Avs" bin. No need to go all mansplaining just because you had issue with what is considered a castoff.

After having an awful season in '14 he rebranded himself as a solid defensively minded player who can pk. He will make the Wild.

He's "only" 32 and had a pretty decent stint last year with Mtl and Chicago. Just seems weak at times, gets tired when he plays for extended periods. Conditioning or health issues??? If his time on ice is well managed, he can be a great bargain for the Wild.

Shwat? He was excellent in our top 6 and the perfect complimentary player, no way he'd have been let go if his health allowed him to play in Denver with regularity. Brief periods at an altitude don't have the same effect on that condition that living and training and playing at that altitude do.

Flash does have to take blood thinners in order to prevent clots. May or may not impact his energy levels.

He looked awesome to start the year in Montreal but seemed to lose interest as the year went on. Not sure if that's his normal MO or if the team's slide due to all the injuries affected his morale.

Either way, best of luck to him in Minny!

Thanx, I didn't know this. Of course it affects his game and explains what people perceive as him being inconsistent. When he's used properly though (time management), he can be an above average two way player. Wouldn't mind him at all on a fourth line knowing he can jump in on any other line for short periods.

Well that is disappointing. I've always liked Fleischmann's game. Even if he isn't/wasn't the player of a couple of years ago, still would have liked to see him in a Wild uni. Hoping he can get his medical problems in check, assuming the failed physical stems from his clotting.
