Tom Wilson Has Arrived At Last

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Seeing people talking about if Wilson starts popping 30+ goal seasons.... The dude has 6 goals right now. On pace for just under 12.

Unless he had some goals taken back since December, it's probably time to relax.

He's producing at a good 3rd line rate while playing with Ovechkin and Backstrom? Uh, okay. Don't get me wrong, he's having a good season and looks to be progressing, but there's not much crow to be eaten here. He put up 4th line numbers in a bottom-6 role in the past, and now with him in the top-6, he's putting up 2nd/3rd line tweener numbers.

Not sure why people are expecting others to eat crow, Wilson should be producing if he's playing with guys like Ovi, Backstrom and Kuznetsov.

He's only been Top 6 Tom for about 50 games. Give or take. So while I understand your points, they dont truly show the entire picture.

And he gets zero PP time. So the significant part to all of this is the ES scoring. Had he been on the PP, he'd be over 20 goals right now.

Candidly, most Caps fans didnt think he'd be Top 6 Tom either (me included). I thought he'd make it to 3rd line W agitator. Not top 6 W scorer (and agitator).

I don't think Wilson is a top-6er, I think he's a 3rd liner that just fit with guys like Ovi and Backstrom. He's a complementary kind of piece, he's a better version of Zack Kassian. I still think he's a 3rd line agitator, he's just fitting well with who he's playing with in the top-6.

This was essentially my point when this thread was made months ago.

The guy is playing with two guys who are Hart candidates in any given season and has only managed 30 points

Crow needs to be eaten here by all the doubters.

He has more ES points on Sunday night games that take place on a holiday in the month of April than guys like McDavid or Matthews.

Wilson isn't the hack his credits think he is, but he isn't yet the budding superstar 1st round pick his admirers say he is.

As a Caps fan, I watch him play night in and night out. He's the most versatile forward they have. His offensive skill is improving. I don't know why he isn't at least the netfront presence on the 2nd PP unit. His deflection goal last night shows he has the hands and his frame shows he has the size to hopefully develop into a Wayne Simmonds or Hornqvist type presence on the PP.
